New house has Faraday cage in the loft room

How many power points are around the room? Ethernet?

The trunking on the left of the door looks crap like it may have been done in a hurry.

Internet related is a good shout, but what? Mystery waiting to be uncovered!

There are a few ethernet ports and power points on the trunking. Heres a couple more pics where you can sort of see. The whole house was wired with cat 5 in each room but i took it out because the installation was so poor.

Thats why being an office is plausible, that with the ethernet, but then what benefit is a faraday? are servers that susceptible to electromagnetic forces??

Actually looks really nice(well not the trunking job).

Would love to know what he was doing in there. Cant need that many ethernet ports to build a server surely.

Edit: Just out of interest can you get a signal on your phone in that room?

Is that two handles that were on the door - one vertical and one horizontal? Clearly to assist a good two-handed shove to close the door when the aliens are trying to get in!

Is it actually working as a functional faraday cage, do you have mobile reception issues when inside or something?

If he built servers or repaired them it might have been a condition of working at home that he have a faraday cage. Lots of server rooms use them. Info here what sort of places would use them.

Absolutely.

I don't see quite why such strange assumptions are being made. If it works as a Faraday cage, then it's doing its job properly and the chap knew what he was doing.

If it doesn't work, then he didn't know what he was doing, but thought of himself as a bit of a whizz.

Im not sure if it worked or not, i removed the door so cant test it anymore. I assume it did because its a lot of trouble to go to if it didnt. I dont get very good reception anywhere in the house really. Could be a great selling point to the house.

If he had loads of servers, networking gear etc. maybe he was worried about causing interference for other people.

Maybe he had a mate who was also a amateur radio fan. Or he had complaints from the old lady next door with her telly from the 1960s?

Or maybe he was a bit of a loon.
