Cars you nearly purchased and now regret not buying...

Nothing as fancy as in this thread but I regret not going after a Mondeo about a month ago!

10 plate Titanium X Sport with all the options, FSH and what not, 80k miles for 7800!! :(

Oh well :p

I think I know which one you mean, it was on sale for a while and only got sold two weekends ago. I actually went to view it and decided not to buy it. The car hadn't been serviced for the past 2 years/18000 miles and the tyres were cheap worn ones so you didn't really miss out. Which leads me to my biggest regret... crashing my fully specc'ed (and by fully, I mean the only thing missing were TV screens at the back) 2.5T Titanium X Sport :(. Doesn't quite relate to purchasing cars but still...

Sounds a little far fetched to me, someone with the ability to buy either of the other cars wouldn't entertain owning a yeti instead.

I've been to the Goodwood Festival of Speed for many years with friends and we have a game which involves me trying to fit inside a nice car and the list is very short. I asked about the Maserati Quattroporte in an earlier thread: that was the only Maserati there into which I could fit.

I blame my parents.

I'm 6'4 too and feel your pain. Noble was tiny, 996 was too uncomfortable... Waiting for the 997 to hit my budget :)

M3 CSL. They were £30k 5yrs ago, dipped a bit but now going crazy.

That Lamborghini story of rilots must have hurt with hindsight. Although no different to the stock market.

Although I bought a flat instead which I guess was a better investment but I'm driving a 14 yr old honda around.

Maybe S2000s will be a future classic ? :p. Some cars like the Enzo just make the rich richer. Evo did an article a few years ago talking about appreciation, servicing etc for average usage . the Enzo made £20 /mile

I regretted not buying an S2000 two summers ago when I had the opportunity, but instead decided against it after changing jobs!

Ended up buying the Integra though, so it makes up for it! :D

Romford area?

I decided against it purely on distance from where I am - AT said 351 miles!

how's the Passat?

Very good! Happy with it, could do with a little more exhaust noise though :p

Will be getting it up on the ramps in the next few weeks to check the underside out, want to assess the exhaust, people in the USA have has very good results with removing the centre suitcase box, makes it sound more like an R32.

Yup, that's the one. Spent a good hour going to see it and he even offered me £500 off but the tyres needed changing and the car needed to be serviced which would have meant spending a fair sum on top plus it was fairly dirty inside. I just got the impression the owner wasn't really looking after it. The guy who came to view it after must have bought it because the ad was removed later that afternoon.

E34 M5 LE, decided I really couldn't afford it and sensibly didn't go for it, but can't help wishing I had even if it was for a brief ownership...

Reliant Scimitar! Probably the worst car in the thread but it was in really good condition from someone in my family for £600, old school V6, crap suspension but (IMO) awesome looks.

I suppose I would probably be dead if I'd bought it.

Knocked back the chance of a mk2 escort rs2000 for peanuts back in 1998 :(

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

A mint guards red 944 S2, with the the M030 upgrades and the proper black leather bucket seats.

Would be worth much more money now, and no doubt keep going up in price.

Oh to go back 6 years :(

Same story for me but a mint white 944 S with the oh so 80's pin stripe seats.

Oh and a Datsun 240Z that was available locally. Amazing condition, some quite nice mods and about one third of what it would cost me to buy now :(

I test drove a phase 1 V6 Clio in silver about 5 years ago. I very very nearly purchased it until my girlfriend 'advised' in strong terms against it. Sure it was massively impractical, the turning circle horrendous, parts were expensive (brakes for example) and not overly fast, but my god it was awesome! :(

Was going to get an NSX before I grabbed the DC2 4.5yrs ago. Wish I did asit would have appreciated by £15k+, but my practicality head won out :(

Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R. My mate was selling it and offered it me for 1.5k-2k less than similar spec ones but I decided not to as I was doing a lot of miles and the MPG would have killed me so I stuck to my my Focus. 2 months after it sold I moved office and no longer need a car for work so now only do about 2-3k miles a year.

Even T350s are climbing in value. I'm still yearning after a Tuscan, but I worry that soon they'll be unaffordable and poor value considering their age and reliability! I can't see a decent Tuscan depreciating at all, just need to find some more money from somewhere!
