8... actually... only I have had one of them for 2 months.

I am replacing the 3TB drives in my 2x Sinology 213j NASes

The remaining 3TB drives are going into my custom built home server (case can house 12 drives without expansion bays... mb + controller only 8 at the moment) + 1 or 2 are going to be local to the HTPC, I haven't decided yet - currently moving files around to clear one of the Synologies.

I was tempted to buy a 10 drive Synology, but had some spare hardware, so just bought a case that could house a good few drives & run windows on it for some extra software I would like to run that Synology can't manage :) Power usage factored into the decision too... but a q6600 with onboard graphics sitting at idle doesn't use much power.

So it will end up with:

2x:
4x 4TB in raid-5 - 12TB + 12TB

Home server:
2x 3TB in raid-1 - 3TB
4-5x 3TB static - 12-15TB

HTPC:
1-2x 3TB static - 3-6TB

Then I have 5x 1TB + 2x 0.75TB drives that are still running strong, but I need to pick up a s-ata controller to have them in the same home server... they will most likely be used for redundancy.

So I estimate 36TB maximum, with various duplications for redundancy. For now... I'm sure it won't take me long to fill :)

These are a terrible waste of money, unfortunately.

Even if that is hyped up, you'll never notice the difference, particularly in the early stages of playing.

Must agree. I favour Mogami W2524 cable and Neutrik NP2RX-B plugs if you have space on your pedalboard (or the Neutrik pancake jacks if you can find them) or George L's are pretty good (I've been running these for nearly 4 years with not one problem).
