stutter and lag with sli setup

You know something i don't?

I used the term lag because he did. Fairly sure he's not referring to internet lag, but the lag/stutter caused by his SLI setup.

Do you possibly think that something else could be at play here? Maybe the games are too demanding for his setup or his CPU isn't good enough for games like Bioshock/BF4/COD Ghosts?

I looked at the benchs for SLI 560s and they are not great and couple that with his CPU and I can see problems in other newer games.

@OP - Maybe look to overhaul your CPU as well as your GPUs?

With that cpu overclocked it's similar in performance terms to a i5 according to the review i just read. It should certainly be enough, but it's no brute either. I think a more powerful single gpu would be better in his scenario.

^^ probably this

maybe try looking up some benchmarks/reviews for your CPU in those games you have listed and see if people have similar experiences etc.

you could try sticking a 780/290 in there first and see how you get on, however BF4 and the like are quite CPU intensive so it might not get rid of the issue altogether.

If you tried a 290 however mantle might make BF4 a better experience with your cpu but it won't help in other games.

It's all down to your budget though at the end of the day.

I am not that great on AMD CPUs and looked at benchs for it and it didn't do very well but 4.7Ghz should help. I do agree that a new GPU will help but I also feel there is more to it than just the lack of grunt.

No might about it bud, in BF4 anyway. Mantle can make a 45W APU perform like a 4 core Intel i7 Haswell.

Just a bit of leg pulling hence the original edit (bad choice of words) :o

Nay bother lad. :)

how much vram do your cards have and how much are they using in game? wondering if it's an issue with that seeing as the titles you list are current ones. Install gpu-z and record the sensor logs and see if you can spot anything irregular.

And maybe downclock your cpu a notch or bump the volts slightly just incase it's your cpu overclock.

When i saw the title mentioned SLI stutter I felt a great disturbance in the Force...as if millions of
nvidia fanboys suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear
something terrible has happened
.

It has. The colours of your signature :p

My money is still on vcore related.

I'm normally right so just a thank me by trust when it's sorted

:D

I was getting stuttering and mild lag using my gtx560 TI SLi a while back.

Removing the Dameware and Logmein mirror drivers made life good, not sure if you have anything similar installed though.

ok so theres a lot of replys thanks. cpus vcore is 1.440 if that helps, the gtx 560 vram is 1gb. i had this issue with a single gtx 560 thats why i went sli but its the same. ive ran it all on stock clocks with 1 card and still lagging . theres no other pci cards no wifi. im only on campaign mode in games, so not internet lag. if i up the vcore to 1.5v would it be ok? it was stable in prime 95 at 1.440v.

iirc VRAM doesn't stack, so you only have 1gb still despite having 2 cards. apologies if i'm wrong and i'm sure someone will pull me up on it if i am :D

ok bf4 ultra settings vram is at 959mb and cpu is 70%. on low settings vram 847mb cpu 80%. ram is around 4gb.

also i wish i had the money for a 290. as i mentioned earlier if spotted 7970s on ebay for £130.

It could pay to look for a single card like a 280 and get the 8350 CPU. This could save you a chunk and would give you a better overall experience in all games.

Don't mention ebay please. That is a no no here, as it is mentioning competitors and as OcUK sell computer components, that isn't good :)

sorry about that it wont happen again. well ill ito getting shot off the gtx 560s and go amd.

Go for a 280 for now. No need to change out your cpu just yet. Get a 280 and see how it goes. I think you'll find your problems will be removed by moving to a single gpu.
