New Car : BMW M3 E46

It's a shame they didn't hold their value a bit better to avoid scrotes buying them:p:eek::o

Are they going to be the new E46 330i?

Interesting. Do you think it's about time to pick up a perfect low miler for investment purposes?

Invest in a car, nope never. Only cars to invest in are ones which are already classics and typically a lot more money. An E46 M3 will never be a true investment to make money, because so many of them were produced.

Honda NSX, M3 CSL, TVR Sagaris were cars to buy 5 years ago as now they have increased in a value a lot, NSX could still continue to appreciate but the other two in some cases are now selling for more when they were sold brand new by the deals with 0 miles.

If you mean by investment, it will loose very little money if anything, then yes, but as a profit making exercise then no.

I was thinking the E46 M3 will be similar to the E30 M3, it is a highly praised car and as such should be worth something to a collector in about 20-30 years. A decent, low miler kept pristine and stock should fetch a decent 15k+ on top easy I would have thought?

The e30 was produced in relatively few numbers compared to the e46 variant, with the exception of the CSL, I'd be surprised if they appreciate by a large margin, not to mention the e30 was the first M3 and very different to it's lesser brethren, a Motorsport bred homologation special etc
The e46, whilst a superb car, is effectively just the top of the range regular production model, built iirc on the same production line as a 318.....

Yeh I see what you mean, perhaps only the special editions or even the CSL would appreciate in any meaningful way.

I really cant see them appreciating in any way for at least 10 years. They will probably hold their value well though.

A decent late low miler probably isn't that far off that price now (ok that's what they are advertised for, not necessarily sold), but generally you're looking at over 10k for low miles and late model.

As has been said, was produced in high numbers so unlikely to do much in the classic stakes based on situation today, but who knows in 10, 20 years etc.

I've no idea but how have prices of E36 M3s been going? They were relatively dirt cheap not that long ago.

Yeh this was more a long term 20-30 year type of investment on the hopes it would become a classic. I haven't looked at the e36 recently but the evo's were holding their value and the GTR/GT2 were rising nicely the last time I looked.

For the E46 I guess the only real chance would be with the CSL.

Noticed you hadn't been around awhile!

Lovely car though mate. How does it compare to your old 330i? Not keen on that exhaust though.

When you come to sell it next month let me know and I might be interested :p

I change my car every 12 months so I can't really say much :)

Whats an E36 worth?

That's your answer.

The E30 M3 was a homologation special with a successful racing background, the later cars where just the top performance variant.

Good point. Other than rare examples like this GT2 they seem to be rather low still. Oh man, now I'm browsing through Munich Legends again, going to be another non-productive day...

I think S2000's stands a good chance of going up in value. Evo IX's (and others, especially V's and VI's) were going up the last time I checked.

Dat engine bay
