A dog is something you struggle to pick up... ;)
But still do, because they loves the cuddles!!

Nay! Ye be all wrong Parrots be best!
Friend of mine owns three, in a shared house where teh other residents own eight mewling cats between them... bloody parrots have only gone and learned to mewl as well!!! :D

I grew up with both.
I love cats, but they really are just like those upper middle-management types that stab everyone in the back to get their own way... If cats could drive, they'd be in BMWs and Audis!!

I will concede that in the absence of cats, either pugs, boston terriers or French bulldogs would pose as adequate substitutes. However, due to the high availability, high durability and low cost of maintenance and purchase of cats that they simply cannot be ignored as the superior animal.

I mean, what really clinches it, and this cannot be argued against (non-negotiable) is that my cats don't use my garden as a toilet. As the garden belongs to our cats, no other cats use it either. Instead, my cats crap in the neighbour's garden. They have a dog which also craps in their garden. Even better is that it eats the crap that my cats leave there.

That's just retarded.

My cat also once brought me a slice of marmalade on toast from a neighbour's house that he hunted and killed. Ain't no dog done that before.

Did your cat press CTRL to go into sneak mode and tresspass in your neighbours house and pocket the marmalade on toast?

Can't see the point of this thread other than as troll bait?

But at least it gives you the chance to know who to avoid on the forum.

Yes, neither in my back garden ******* in the soil.

Dog owners are respectful and don't allow their pets to do it, cat owners don't give a damn... ;)

When a person learns to look after a cat they can graduate up to a dog.

No, they just let their dogs do it all over the park instead (its too risky to sit on the grass) or they leave their bags of poop hanging in the trees like some kind of trophy collection. :p

Always amuses me when people say they are animal lovers and own cats yet don't seem to quite understand what their dear little kittys actually get up to... ignorance is bliss!

When I was growing up we had this large mature garden and it was full of shrubs and trees and full of birds, the dawn chorus of birdsong was something to behold, in the summer it happened so early that it used to wake me up at 4-5 a.m. I used to curse the little feathered *******s. We had a cat who was always hunting and always came back with a mouse or two, lord knows where she found them. Once she came back with a dead rat, my mother's screams is something I'll never forget. Only very rarely would it be a bird, and it certainly did nothing to deaden the deafening racket every morning.

Houses these days seem to be all block paving, fences, wooden decking, and a small strip of grass if you're lucky, and little if any trees and shrubs, people don't seem to want the inconvenience. I never hear a dawn chorus these days. I miss it. :(

Give me a dog any day of the week :)

Although I do say that as I'm just about to go and warm up our mutt's food, and then sit there for probably 15 minutes offering it to him one bite at a time.

Dogs drink from toilet bowls because they're so smrt.

The one thing about dogs is their obsession with other animals poo. If you don't watch them obsessively, they will either eat it or worse, roll in it.

There is nothing worse than a dog that's intentionally covered itself in poo. Absolutely disgusting. Never seen a cat do that.

What would be the point in having a proper poll on anything as obvious as dogs being better?

Not even cat owners think cats are better than dogs, surely? They might fit their lives better and therefore better suit them than a dog, but better? Not a chance.

Fact. Cats are cuter by a factor of 1x10^dawwwwww. In addition...

They purr, which gives off these amazing vibrations and is very enjoyable.
They can fit neatly into your trousers if you need them to.
They have rough tongues.
If you aren't in the mood, they will sod off and do their own thing.
They are perfect size for sitting on laps.
They eat less and poo less.
They can be trained to poo like humans.
Don't eat or roll in every excreted substance they find.
Like to rub themselves against you.
Keep your bed warm without turning the heating on.

I could go on.
