7950 xfire 1080p....worth extra £$£?

definitely go for it...what's OTT about having way more GPU grunt than you need???? ;) means now you can run ultra everything, 16xAF and 8xSSAA in game and still hold above 60fps :) (with the exception of that beast that is Crysis 3, no 8xSSAA for you lol)

Good lord these things clock well! After just a few minutes I had it running 3dm stable at 1000/1300 and that added nearly 400 points to my score which was nice. I won't be playing with voltages sp not sure how much further it will safely go.

You guys know what is generally achievable clocks on these?

wow! 1500 on the memory. slow build up to that me thinks

Tbh, if they both hit 1000/1300 I would be happy as that is a big jump over stock performance already

I think most 7950s do at least 1100/1500 very comfortably with a little jump in volts. I can actually bench mine at 1175/1600 but no good for 24/7.

I run mine at 1100/1500 24/7 use, temps never go higher than mid 60s under full load with a fan profile that never exceeds 60% speed. They are incredible cards, truly remarkable performance for the buck.

Which brand cards?

so far I have now managed a 1075/1375 OC on my card, 1100/1400 seemed to get a bit upset and hung 3DM and the end of the last firestrike combined test

at the 1075/1375 my score jumped from 6160 to 6815! quite a boost :D

in games (the important bit) this single card just destroys my old setup :D

Knock the core back a touch and push the mem up.

Try 1045/1400 then if that's stable push onto 1450.

My Iceq was pretty fickle on the core depending on the benchmark or game.

ive got the msi HD 7950 O/C boost edition and was wondering do I need a matched card for x fire? or can I get any HD 7950? also will I really notice the difference?

total newbie question now... if I was to get a matched card once its in and the x fire leads are on it is there anything else I need to do to get it working?

what extra voltage are you adding to the card mate? are you using any power boost?

These cards take plenty of extra volts don't be shy ;) I have mine at 1.18v for 1100/1500 24/7 and push to 1.22v for 1150/1600 benching, they just laugh at any game thrown at them and give better figures than 780ti, Titans and 290x cards for an absolute fraction of the price.

I will be honest, I dont even know where to start with the voltage. Was going to hit the max in stock n then be happy lol

plenty of people here to help if you need, and of course I'll be more than willing to talk you through anything if need be. It's a very easy process and as long as you raise in small increments at a time, the worst that will happen is you'll get freeze or an artifact. From that point you just add a tiny amount more voltage and retest.

Have you got MSI Afterburner installed? If not, then go here, http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/msi-afterburner-beta-download.html and install this program (choose Download 3.0.1 Stable or the latest beta). From there you have amazing control of your GPU, you can set up custom fan profiles that you can fine tune at certain temps to control noise and airflow. And of course, you'll be able to tweak your clocks and voltages ever so simply.

If memory serves - for easy voltage tweeks there's a slider in catalyst for up to plus twenty percent?

What software are you using?

I have afterburner installed and obviously usual catalyst setup

Had looked at the power thing in ccc but was a head scratcher lol
