They didn't have anyway of stopping it.
Arm the kurds, bomb the crap out of isis and let them mop up.

what do you mean?
Sooner they are dealt with the better. Happy for those who want to live like that to leave the UK . but they won't be content with the land they have.
Those that go to fight shouldn't be allowed back in Europe under any circumstances

.There are various factions within Kurdistan as well as within Iraq. They all working together at the moment, but there are still 'teams' for want of a better word.
people probably said the same thing about arming the taliban vs russia
From some light reading the situation regarding the Kurds and Turkey is quite a mess with the main groups not having the clout with the more radical groups to keep them from operating against Turkey and things have only settled down for the moment due to mutual need of all parties.
They also seem to need quite some training... in the recent operations they were more at risk of killing each other than killing IS or being killed by IS.
think the turks will be just as upset over an independent Kurdistan , since they want southern turkey and have been killing Turkish nationals in a terrorist campaign for years.

The truce was that the Kurds and ISIS would stop killing each other, not to work together. I'm in favour of not only arming the Kurds, but helping them to establish an independent Kurdistan. They seem to be one of the few secular and benign groups in the Middle East.
According to reports, just shy of 400 Yazidi men captured by IS have been murdered in Kocho in Northern Iraq.
In my opinion, if we can bring about the downfall of these IS savages at the cost of arming, training and providing close air support to the Peshmerga without having to commit our own troops (save for a small special forces presence perhaps), then we should be all over it. Given the ideology IS follows, I fear that we're going to have to fight them sooner or later, better to do it now, before they can become more established.
