Here is the it's 1979 and time for the telephone to go mobile episode.

There does not seem to be many tech programs on the TV. We have the Gadget show but that seems to be a vehicle for screaming presenters to act like kids and most of the gadgets seem to be phones and cameras. Whereas Tomorrow's world feature all sorts of stuff.

As an aside I bought one of these, Sharp VZ-3000 which I saw on the program, I was in the Royal Marines at the time and based on one of Her Majesty's frigates and space was at a premium. I loved that thing and it was not cheap.

no one would watch it, would work better as a online show.

Ok, "Should the BBC bring back Tomorrows World as an Online show?"

I'd watch it. The Gadget Show is just an advertising platform for whoever pays them the most, and most of the technology is current rather than anything future looking. There is definately scope for a serious, factually based look into the future of all technology and developments.

According to the BBC there is no need for a technology show as it says the subject is covered by Horizon, which I watch but I would not call it a technology program and the other is Click on the news channel which is just poor.

Horizon is a Science and Tech program but not a platform to show future tech like Tomorrow's World, where multiple tech possibilities were explored. It's great for one particular subject, explored deep enough to fill a layman with enough tid bits to want to know more.

Click is very much a current tech, mostly exhibition stuff shown weekly that one can find live on sites like Engadget. I do however find Click to be very very iOS biased when it comes to mobile platform. Otherwise, it's ok-ish for a weekly round up. again, not a platform showing future tech.

So yes, bring back Tomorrow's World.

I thought lag would be a thing of the past by now, my kettle takes so long to boil and my toaster takes aaaaaages.

You've obviously not discovered this for your kettle:

My ping is now acceptable with these wonderful tech.

Current TV fears complexity,

Technology is far more complex to explain than it used to be and thus not a subject they will probably feel is easily covered.

Instead of trying to elevate and educate the audience I think TV bosses are far more worried about keeping things light and entertaining (One Show). The problem is that most TV is just mediocrity as a result.

I bet you're running round no-scoping all those stats-padding holographic sight n00bs with their g18s

Pistol and knife. Only way a pro will go.

quoted for the truth TBH.

It's a shame we can't stop paying our TV licence to make an impact where these TV Bosses understand. Ratings ratings ratings, but it's impossible when there's plenty watching these light entertainment / reality show.

I mean, Tumble?! Really?

Tomorrow's World was always a bit of a joke to be honest. Who else remembers the demonstration about how 'indestructible' CDs were by spreading jam on one and drilling holes in it? I used to watch it as a kid but can't really remember one prediction that they got right...

No because we have the Internet now and we have the shows format daily/hourly available to watch provided by 1000s of sources.
