NAS - Transfer between shares

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help. I currently have a Netgear NV+ V2 NAS on my home network populated with 4 2tb drives, split into 2 shares of RAID 1 (2tb each)

For example, I have c/downloads and have c/files. When I map these drives to my laptop and try to transfer files between the two shares it takes forever, and I get the impression its actually downloading c/downloads to my laptop and then uploading to c/files.

Is there any way around this? I know that if I have a drive on my laptop, and change the location of the file it happens in an instant as it's only really changing the location information, not actually moving the complete file.

I don't think I can do this from the GUI on the NAS so I am a bit stuck with what to do to speed up this process.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

This is exactly what's happening. Windows has no idea where the two shares are so can only read from one and then write back to the other.

Unless you can get direct access to the NAS OS itself either via the GUI or with a command line / terminal connection then you've got no other option.
