Worth complaining to BBC? (Apple Promotion)

I'd be lying if I said it doesn't annoy we when people say Ipod as a generic term for any portable music player.
The BBC don't realise a lot of things these days :/
 
On the ITV news the models they use in the "contact us" animations are of a MacBook Pro, an iPhone 4/4S and an iPad, but without the Apple logos. They also use the terms iPhone and iPad in the place of smartphone and tablet. You may want to complain to them too. :p :rolleyes:
 
Not related to the BBC but what I do find tiresome is that hotels and other similar places only seem to have ipod/apple adapters and connectors which is a ball ache when you don't own apple devices.

Especially when a Micro-USB would cater for 99.9% of other smartphones. :rolleyes:

Not really as they are docks, not a cable, so would fit very few models, I can totally understand why hotels went apple.

Now when they get a retrofit they should be going Bluetooth.

We should also include the Halfords adverts on Dave too as though they removed the badges it is obvious what cars they are (from memory a BMW 6 series and Vauxhall Insignia) and the family planning "would you swap this for this" posters as though they removed the Sony and PS logo it is obvious it is a DS3. It is an outrage and must be stopped* :mad:

I think the issue is that the BBC is publicly funded, and is "meant" to be unbiased and impartial, and free from advertising. Which is the OP's complaint.

ITV on the other hand is a commercial station, raising it's revenue from advertising rather than public pockets. As such, it can do what the hell it wants.

Nope, I've not really got angry over anything recently, I've realised life is way too short to get angry over stupid things, especially when you put them into perspective with how some of the population on Earth live, you do truly feel like #FirstWorldProblems

But if you are talking to someone who isn't technical why go into even that level of detail and confuse them. The answer to what's the difference? could just be that it was the same sort of thing but made by some company other than Apple.

To which I'm sure they would respond, what is Apple? To them, an iPad is just a screen that you touch to send emails and watch videos of cats that were popular 5 years ago :p
 
I'm very angry as somebody on the BBC called a vcauum cleaner a Hoover the other day.

You get the point. iPad = tablet. iPod = MP3 player. Also, most of the time I have watched the BBC they do use the words 'tablet', 'smartphone' and 'MP3' player.

Odd thing to get rilled about OP.

What is Apple? I'm sure they know it is an Apple iPad. I fair amount of non-technical family members have iPads and they all know they come from Apple!

My mum has an iPad and as far as she's concerned, all tablets are iPads. She certainly wouldn't know who makes them.

As already said, it's become a generic name for a tablet computer.

Yeah, I hate it when people insist on using the term "MP3 player" (or even worse just "MP3") when they mean "digital audio playback device". Other formats should be publicised equally ;)
