I was going to put this in Show Us Your Motors but seen as only 1/2 my car is in 1 pic it's probably best here! -

31st August 2014 - Popped down to Kemble Airfield (just to the west of Cirencester) for a PistonHeads meet at the AV8 cafe. For a small meet (8 cars) it was a nice eclectic range of cars from a Porsche 911 to a Lotus Evora and a Scimitar! It was a good little meet with a chance to swap stories with other like-minded people at a really nice venue.

After a few hours of swapping tales I headed off home and right into the Cotswolds Triathlon which explains the ridiculous amount of cyclists (30+) I nearly had to peel from the front of my car as I came around a fairly sharp bend and found them static and blocking the whole road (both lanes) at a crossroads figuring out where to go (I think) so I gave them a wee toot of the horn as I stamped on the brakes to remind them that's it's not a good idea for such vulnerable people to stay in the way of a 2 ton metal object doing 60mph, although judging from the friendly way they told me I was a masturbator via sign language, I'm guessing that they thought blocking an entire A road with their frail bodies just after a blind bend was perfectly OK!

There was an ambulance car flying the other way (easy 80+) about 30secs after I passed them which I flashed so hopefully they didn't smash into the cyclists.

Here's my pics taken with a particularly poor potato which doesn't like facing the Sun -

Doesn't matter what sort of meet you go to... someone will turn up in a bloody DeLorean. God I hate those cars.

Indeed.

There was a company (actually a couple of guys i think) that took the delorean and shoved a V8 in it and uprated the suspension, breaks and other gumpf to make it a half decent car. That i would be interested in!

I think the DeLorean still holds an element of absolute fascination to a wide age range. Dad's are interested in them because of the Marty McFly and Doc Brown connection and their kids love them because their dads do. :) That's probably why they get the crowds at meets. From purely a petrol head point of view they aren't 'all that', but still worth a nose around I reckon.

I used to live near the factory in Dunmurry. So I remember driving past it on a nearly daily basis after the company went bankrupt. It was just one more in a long line of failed enterprises in the sink hole of Northern Ireland at the time for me. And as you say, from a petrol heads point of view, it was a terrible car in its original form. Underpowered. Wallowy. Rode too high. I don't even think the styling was all that great, though it's certainly unique.

I was never particularly fond of the films either. Though I can understand that nostalgia aspect. But I'm more likely to get gooey eyed over a Trans AM tarted up like KITT or a GMC Vandura tarted up like the A-Team van regardless of how bad they were as vehicles.

It's a preset I made myself and some individual tweaks per image. Selling the 35mm paid for the 5D AND the 50mm f1.4 so it's not all bad.

Went for a drive and stumbled upon a rather unusual collection of cars. The place was a winery with a large garage next door, and the guy working there (who was from Hainult!) told me they were building up a collection to go in a museum. There were various cars in different states of repair: I didn't want to ask too many details but I suspect some were quite valuable.

Not sure what this was, perhaps a DB5? Had a Monaco numberplate and was absolutely mint.

Perhaps it was a ploy to entice people in so that they would buy some wine, if it was then it certainly worked on me :p

And finally a quick shot of some rather nice scenery I encountered on my drive today.
