are you addicted to your pc

I'm always at my PC for news, movies, music, games, TV, YouTube and those other sites but.... im off to the gym now, its leg day :D

No, outside of work I might have a couple of hours but it's not set in stone.

That's budgeting time spent reading articles on the toilet off a smartphone.

Refuse to have a laptop or a tablet. I have one desktop PC and it stays in the office.

are you addicted to your pc

Yes is the answer although when I go on holiday I don't miss it.

I spend all my working day in front of a PC but when I get home I'd say from 6pm until 11pm I sit there while watching TV or playing musical instruments.
At the weekend I'm there all day.

In this day and age it almost feels like our generation can't get away from devices like a personal computer or a smart phone. Both are essentially the same thing.

They are as much integrated into everything we do as writing up homework, making a phone call, reading a newspaper, self educating or watching the TV. It's not only a source of entertainment but a tool of productivity and practical appliances.

Yet it still feels taboo to use or as an adult to confess to playing computer games.

My PC represents very good value if I think how much time I spend on it versus how much money I've spent on it. That's what I like to tell myself.

No, but I used to be. Weaned off it and now the pattern is about 2hrs every couple of evenings with a few evenings in between off.

Already spend 80% of my working day staring at one.

During the week I use a PC at work, so I'm often on a PC. At home, less so as I'm busy at the gym, or out, or spending time with my other half. The weekends I'm hardly on at all compared to the week.

i remember around 7 years ago our warehouse boss, who was in is 40s was playing halflife on his pc in is dinner break. and every one thought he was a weirdo except me. as i had the game at home, i still play pc games now in my 50s but some people frown on gaming. thats why i dont mention it to anyone.

I think it is because a lot of people who aren't into computers (I think still in a majority) see it as a waste, and would rather do something else in their spare time, such as: socialising, sports, other hobbies (i.e. non computer ones), spending time with family, reading, going for a walk, spending time away from the computer.

the latter being important to a lot of people, and some people cannot understand wanting to spend more time on the computer when you don't have to be on it.

Totally depends for me, I spend all day looking at a PC and sometimes the last thing I want to do is turn my PC on at home. Saying that, it is on 24/7 at the weekend and quite often sees heavy use.

If you count PC/ work/ laptop etc and phone (seeing as I use them all for pretty much the same thing(i.e. internet and games)) I think I spend easily 12+ hours a day. And I'm not planning on making any changes any time soon. :D Ultimately, it's not really 'bad', though it does have negative connotations.

If you say "I spend 8 hours a day looking at screens" then people tend to make assumptions about the rest of your lifestyle. But realistically, do what you enjoy. Someone else's opinion of it shouldn't really affect you at all if that's what you're happy to keep doing.

If you feel like you'd rather be doing something else but then always end up coming back to your PC then try to encourage yourself to do the other things that you think you will enjoy(laziness is a killer there). It's as simple as that really :) But do things for yourself and your own personal satisfaction.

There are many rewarding pastimes, doesn't mean that you have to partake.

I am not addicted i just like it a lot. I sit at pc all day at work and then go home and sit at my pc all night, as don't have a tv. On weekends i sit at my pc all weekend pretty much, except when i am watching something on my projector or using my nexus 7.

I know i am not addicted because when i go away i have no problem being away from my pc for several weeks.

You can't say that just because you use something a lot of the time that you are addicted to it. I guess i do have some traits of addiction when it comes to my pc. If i didn't have a pc i would go out a lot more, i just find sitting at home on my pc a better option than going out a lot of the time.

No I am not, I use a PC a lot at work because I have to. I use it a lot at home too but that is because it is convenient (HTPC with XBMC) but I have no problem not using it for days or weeks on end.

I would say it is around 14-16 hours per day, split between gaming/Watching films and TV/ working (3-4 hours)/ browsing randomly.

I do not consider myself to be addicted, i just do not have much else to do that i consider fun, or actually fun is not the correct word, so long as it is not boring its fine.
