**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

They went back to USB2 due to cost and lack of most people caring IMO.

No one has said they are getting one yet - now there's a surprise...not.

It will take a 128GB card, hell the S2 even takes it.

I'm interested in the Edge. It's different and tries something new. Will wait until after IFA though.

I didn't watch the full conference so not sure if they mentioned the sd card in any way.

According to engadget here http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/03/samsung-galaxy-note-4-hands-on/ it's 64gb (about half way down the page where they talk about spcs they mention it)

"For internal memory, you can choose between 32 and 64GB, and you can add up to a 64GB microSD card (not 128GB, oddly)"

I don't care what these spec pages say in this regard :p The phone "will" take 128GB or larger cards (once available) :)

As above, even the S2 takes 128GB cards.

Trust me it will work :)

So are you interested?

I'm gonna buy it despite me pretty much not having a good word to say about it (another disappointment is the speaker is now on the back like the s5). But I end up buying all of the new samsung devices (really love amoled)

Will be trading in my phone at carphonewarehouse and then paying the extra when the note 4 releases. The only thing that will stop me is if by some unlikely event another amoled device is released like say a new nexus device etc

I can't emphasize how much I hate lcd/led screens. Plasma and amoled for me.

The day oled screens become more common will be the day I look at other devices.

Using the tab s as an example even though it stutters and an ipad gives a much more smoother experience, for watching media the tab s screen is leagues ahead. I watch a lot of media in bed and seeing the grey blacks, and backlight bleed kill the ipad (and other devices) for me.

I can see me giving this a go.

I didn't really want a larger phone than my N5, but I'm starting to see why the larger screen, multitasking and SPen would be worth the trade off in one handed usage.

Well, for me, the N4 is a bit meh
Edge does look interesting - especially if there is decent use of the 'edge' part, e.g. media controls, camera settings and so on, but I can't help but think that these might only be supported in native apps?
No word on prices, though....tbh, I can see me sticking with my N3 until something exciting comes along.

You mean like multiwindow and other bits on previous Notes that were seen to by devs and thenbecame fully customisable? :D

Where there's a dev community it can be modded!

OK, fair point, but things like multi-window can be turned on and off - the 'edge' part of the screen may just sit there doing nothing in many apps. Bit like the 3 dots....?

I don't know, he did say it will be used for system notifications too and we saw that in action so when you're watching a video or playing a game etc you can interact with notifications. He said there were 7 presets to choose from so it looks like they are simply profiles to show various aspects of the state of the phone, apps and so on. I imagine once modded we can add our own profiles.

It will be modded and Xposed modules will be released as well as apps to tailor it to your needs I can almost guarantee it

After watching this video, I'm actually thinking the note edge isn't too bad.

I like the way it's used when watching a video as demonstrated by android authority at around 1:48

Plus I think the edge just looks nicer in my opinion. Here they are side by side

edit: What I also find "interesting" is the 64gb sd card thing, yet another site mentions it in the specs :

Storage expansion: microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC up to 64 GB

Massively disappointed if this thing turns out to not be water resistant! Looks fine to me though - a spec bump with an improved camera and some kind of fancy OCR (which I think is actually pretty cool). Don't really care about the aluminium thing. Plastic is fine with me but I guess its the cool thing these days.
Having for used to the note 3 size I can't see myself downgrading to something smaller but water resistance is a biggy for me. Meh..

Yeah I think the edge would just annoy me lol I like my home screen to look symmetrical and clean but I don't know it just looks abit weird.

Well, I like the look of the Note 4. It's seems to be the only phone on the market with sensible bezels and menu / back buttons in the correct location. To me it's actually a beautiful phone and I might just make love to it right now.
