I'm not. I'd have it in a case anyway as I'm clumsy. I took my iPhone 5 out for half a day and dropped it against the handbrake in the car, dent on one of the metal edges. Ruined an otherwise (still) pristine launch day phone.

The latest iPod Touch has a protruding camera doesn't it? I'm not big on media players, but I don't remember ever seeing anyone kicking up a fuss about that. New iPhone looks set to take it's design queues from that, and the more recent iPads.

Slightly concerning the quantity of 4.7" vs 5.5" leaks. 4.7" is so 2011. Other than that I don't mind the design, I'd rather have a higher quality protruding camera than a gimped flush one.

16gb isn't pointless at all. Not everyone keeps the whole Internet on their phone.
 
It's a tad disgraceful they even try and get away with it in this day and age. Especially with the likes of Samsung saturating the 16Gb with endless bloat. I don't know why they in particular have so much problem releasing 32Gb variants.

To be fair, the 5S has pretty much the highest quality sensor available on any phone/compact camera on the market at the moment so you can't really call it gimped :p but I get you're point, I don't mind the design either as long as it improves things. The iPod touch gen 5 has a protruding camera anyway!

It is just a slap in the face for a £550 phone thou, and the huge rip of for more storage since you have no other choice. Flash storage is dirt cheap, I can now buy Class 10 64GB for £22, and I'm guessing this probably cost half as much for apple due to the scale they buy at. But how much more does it cost for a 64GB iPhone?

Based on? Almost ever phone on the market right now has better sensors, bigger sensor, faster lenses. Apple has awesome software but in terms of sensor it is similar to the Nexus 5. Apple literally just have a Sony sensor (might be wrong but 99% sure) that below even their high end devices.
 
Still doesn't beat the Iphone 4 design. I love the blocky shape of it with the rimmed aluminium. Even the weight of it was perfect. I really don't like how light the 5S is.

But we all know Apple likes to charge the maximum for very little they can get away with because they know people will still buy it.

Apple would rather people hold their data on iCloud than the phone itself, one of the reasons why Apple would never support external storage on a iPhone, iPad or iPod.
 
You can buy an adapter from iphone to external memory if you want to store tonnes of audio / video files on an iphone. That's that problem solved

Alternately you could pay for something like Spotify like a lot of my mates do. Personally I'm not a fan because I listen to random DJ Sets and tracks that are not available. 16gb phone is enough for me, it keeps it 'clean' and makes me change music every month or so instead of leaving the same stuff on there

I've had an unspoken agreement with a workmate the last couple of years where he buys my current one off me and I buy the new one. I could probably make a touch more money selling it online but much less of a faff just to take it to work and hand it over for cash.

My own personal tests, so nothing concrete to link too. I've tested it against pretty much every high end phone on the market including a large amount of high end compact cameras. I've not got my hands on the lumia 1020 yet, but we all know the 41mp sensor is a complete gimmick and the quality will be horrendous like the entire lumia range. For dynamic range, edge sharpness and general IQ the 5S is absolutely bonkers above everything else. In studio conditions its right up there with DSLR's. Of course it has extremely limiting functions for ISO, exposure, focus and has horrendous digital zoom.

Examples of stuff i've tested it against:
Galaxy S4/S5, Z1/Z2, G3, OneM8, most of the lumia range, galaxy camera, several high end canon & nikon digital cameras (g15 & P600).
