Hi i have an MSI 290x Gaming gpu, i know it has its own cooler but mine wasnt keeping it cool enough and i couldn't find a water block for it so i am keeping the gpu core cooled with the Kraken 10 cooler and kraken 40 AIO.
Could you recommend the heat sinks that will keep the memory cool and what ever else needs cooling

The Gelid Enhancement kit works well on my VRMs:

But mine are paired with the massive Arctic Accelero heatsink that fits onto the back of the card. Not sure I'd be happy running with just the Enhancement kit on the VRMs without the other heatsink, if I'm honest. If you can get a fan blasting onto them at close range and keep a VERY close eye on the VRM temperatures, it might work.

Do the VRMs/memory chips have any cooling once the main heatsink is removed on the MSI 290X Gaming cards?

its weird even the bay doesnt sell them in this country, all there fans and thermal paste but not that vrm kit

Any chance you could point me in the right direction? I suspect more than a few people might be going down this route, what with certain offers on a the moment... :cool:
 
These are good for a R290 also

Have a look at this thread this person used them with a Kraken on a R290x

type Enzotech Passive Mosfet Cooler 10 pack : MOS-C10 in the bay there are others as well on there
 
Thanks for that! Had already found that thread, but forgotten about the Alpenfohn kit... However, can't seem to find it available anywhere in the UK :(

No problem, i do think its silly Overclockers UK sell the Kraken 10 and water cooler but no VRM sinks at all:confused:
 
Hacksaw up either an old socket 7 era cpu heatsink, cheap GPU heatsink or mobo northbridge heatsink. Then use double sided tape to attach that you can get from the auction site.

edit: I bought some dedicated gpu ram sinks and felt they were too small for vrms. You definitely need a deeper sink cut up from one of the above sources tbh.
