I have been putting away the difference between my last contract and my current 1 month rolling sim-only so have around £250 to off-set the monthly costs.

You don't have to justify your decisions to us dude, each to their own! It's your cash ;)

I fear these iPhone contract prices are going to push up the prices for all the latest handsets now, it seems to happen every year.

If I go for an iPhone I'll definitely be getting a pay monthly sim and buying the phone from Apple. I'm currently paying £36 a month. The same contract with an IP6 would be £50 +£99 upfront. Insane.

I hope not :(

As you said probably doesn't mean much but I think from everything I have seen so far suggest it's a worthy upgrade from the current 4S that I have.

Without a doubt, I just wonder why this jump has been significantly smaller?

I know benchmarks don't really mean much but every time Apple released an iPhone, their PowerVR powered SoC would be king of the benchmarks. Early results show only a marginal increase from the previous generation:

Be interesting to see how the A8 fairs at 1080p.

x4 over my old 4S though

I know i don't. There's not a lot in the differences between the providers monthly contracts. If you want savings, you gotta have the capital i suppose.

Pre-ordered with 3, finally!! Did it over the phone via a lovely helpful lady.

iPhone 6 64GB Silver
600 minutes any network + 300 minutes to 3
All you can eat data
All you can eat text messages
£53 a month, no upfront cost.

Wow. Surely more minutes for £53 a month.

No idea if I got one or not. Completed the upgrade process on o2's site for a 64GB silver Plus. Before I went through with it, the site said they were available so that all checked out successfully...well, except for the 500 Gateway messages throughout and right at the end after taking payment, but I got the email and text to say it was ok.

Straight after I logged in with my wife's account to upgrade hers but the 64GB silver Plus now says 2-3 weeks which is fair enough. Just annoying because I have no idea what leadtime to expect at the moment :)

Although, their wording of "launch day onwards" is pretty open to anything really. Who knows.

Surely would have been better to buy phone outright and get a virgin media VIP unlimited everything for 18 per month sim only?

What's with the Three contracts? £99 upfront cost is ridiculous.

I've never not owned an iphone where there's been no upfront cost.

Where they get you on the 'cheaper' contracts is by low data caps which probably saves the provider very little.

1gb 4g is a tiny amount so its deliberately low so you go for the higher value contracts.

For those waiting for Three...

Plans are as follows (per their customer services phone line) for an iPhone 6 64GB. Knock off £5 a month for 16GB version.

UL mins/UL txt/UL data is £50/month plus £99.
UL mins/UL txt/2GB data is £45/month plus £99.
UL mins/UL txt/1GB data is £43/month plus £99.

They no longer do the 600 mins plans.

For that pricing I've given up and ordered on Apple. Gotta wait til mid-October now :/ Might try the store on the day.

I spoke to Three earlier, and for a 16gb 6+ they told me all their plans started at 600 mins , with all you can eat text and data it was £54 per month, or with 2gb data it was £47 per month, so they do have 600 min plans
