All this android is slow, doesn't make sense etc is a load of twaddle though since around kit kat time. It's just as seamless navigating the launcher and android has much more interesting animations and functionality through widgets etc. its so weird that the Apple brand has such a hold over people.

I haven't owned an android device yet have seen enough of them to know any comments on how iOS is loads better is really an exaggeration. iOS 7 crashes daily on my iPad mini retina, the 1x/2x button on apps is miss located over the top of the battery symbol, FaceTime often rigs and rings without connecting, tethering often won't connect for ages and sport usually does so near instantly, keyboard sounds often stutter or fail to sound for every single key press, etc etc.

Can someone also comment on how Apple design quality can be held in such high esteem, even when the iPhone 6 has much larger, wasted bezel space than the competition, horrific antenna lines, a camera that doesn't fit even though it's not as thin as other phones and a lack of any level of water resistance? It's tempting to say that this generation of iPhones is the worst yet for design quality.

Firstly, LOL.

Secondly, you have a broken iPad.

No offence but it sounds like you've got a faulty iPad....I like many others in this thread have numerous iPhones and iPads and can't say I've even seen 99% of them issues. At worst Safari crashes occasionally but that's usually down to a crap website.

Also the comments about quality in this thread I believe are aimed at build quality, not design quality

Can't believe I've ordered a new iPhone considering how much I dislike the new design. I hope it grows on me.

Know what you mean, I'm not overly impressed with it tbh. Personally I think iPhone design peaked with the 4/4S. Sure it feels a bit thick and heavy now but, for it's time, it was astonishing and more like jewellery than a phone.

I think it's wrong to consider Android as a single entity when the OEMs (and carriers to an extent) customise it so much. The majority of people's interaction with Android is actually the abortion that is TouchWiz.

Which as far as I'm aware doesn't offer any full device backup like iCloud does.

I'm not trying to bash android at all, but giving my opinion on what happens with it generally.
Since the 3GS, I have never seen any Apple phone lag be it my friends, family or even my device.

Android on the other hand. Many friends own them and it's constant lag. Never have I seen an android run smoothly for 5 minutes.

A big factor as to why I stick with apple devices.

That's the 2nd time you've mentioned iCloud backups.... They're utterly woeful, in that they only create additional problems. What's wrong with backing up when you plug into iTunes?

What problems do they create? I lose a phone and I can start from exactly where I left off. And it happens without me having to do anything. I consider it a good feature to have that as far as I'm aware doesn't exist with a Samsung / HTC / Sony device.

And I don't ever plug into iTunes. Wi-Fi Sync has been a thing forever, Match expands on that. My iPhone never gets connected to a computer.

You need to plug it in! Obviously

I have backed up with icloud for years and lost/had stolen 4 iphones now in the past. Go into Apple shop, sign in and select restore. Everything downloads over wifi and 4g in no time at all. Including all apps, photos everything. Even the pictures I took on the night I had my phone stolen were backed up automatically to icloud over data connection.

If you ask me, thats much better than nobbing around plugging your phone into a pc to back it up / restore it.

That does not happen with any recent android phone to any significant level.

To a significant level, yes. It doesnt happen on recent phones. But it definitely is there. I'm talking about the M8 and S4 primarily as that is what most people have. I always see stutters and the occasional app crashes. I've never experienced an app crash as frequent as I SEE it on an android device.

Not to mention the hardware used to run some of the latest phones. Quad code and what not, but the dual core iPhones always seem to run smoother. I take it it's the optimisation from iOS.

People may not agree with what I say, but for me, I'll be sticking with Apple until Android can genuinely sway me. And tbh, that might be never, because there's never much that I want from android that iOS doesnt have. It's a phone ffs.

I'm not saying Android is crap. Far from it, I always have thoughts of moving for a fresh start. But investment, and small things I am used to in iOS prevents me from doing so. Android is not bad, neither is iOS. They just cater to different people. Don't understand all the nonsense talk, if you don't like it, then don't bitch about it.

I'd rather use Windows Phone than Android because it values function over the ability to tinker, but Microsoft seem determined to drive that venture straight into a ditch, so there's only really two choices.

Whilst not explicitly an Android/Google thing, I do find it utterly pathetic how all of Samsung and Microsoft's tablet advertising consists of comparisons with, or plain rubbishing of, the iPad. Is this really these best they can do? It's rather sad.

However, as usual when they have lost the argument they then resort to insults and school yard tactics as per Jobe.

I won't pay silly money for a smartphone whatever the brand or OS.
Oh! Caged lest I forget, you can text instead of iMessage, it works quite well, even on an iPhone.

What insults have I made. I don't need to call you anything, you're giving everyone an impression of yourself from your silly arguments. Guess thats what you get from immature school children.

And why pay for a text message when iMessage is free:)
And please don't say you don't pay for them cos you get free minutes with your plan(that you are paying for...............)

As for not paying silly money for a smartphone. Why not pay over the odds for a phone, you clearly have paying for an Apple laptop. They are so over priced as to be laughable.

People who buy Apple stuff pay a premium and we all know it. A phone is £600, so what. It's only money and spend it where you like. Seems to me it's just outside of what you feel you want to pay/can afford so try to rain on everyone else's parade.

BTW, still waiting to hear what car you have/have had.

The need to compare hardware specs always amuses me. Apple design their own processor and co-processor completely optimised for use with ios. You'll never be able compare it directly with any other phone, apart from maybe through some benchmarks. Even then it would be tenuous. This also goes to show how much design effort goes into their products.

On the flip side they use an off the shelf camera sensor, so when the new phones start arriving we'll soon know how that compares.
