I got one of these for my iphone 5 when I first bought it. After it little while it lost it's shape and wasn't as snug as it should be. This meant little bits of dirt and grit got in and I ended up with scratches and little nicks all over the back and bezel :( lesson learned.

Thanks for the heads up.
May I ask what you have used in the meantime?

I mean, paying £35 for the leather ones is just too much.

Was going to wait a few weeks after release before picking up the iPhone 6 but caved in and reserved a 64gb Space Grey iPhone 6 at Regents Street. I selected the latest time possible (6pm-7pm) as I'm busy before 6pm, if I miss this slot will I still be able to pick it up after that time(the store closes at 9pm)?

I went for a belkin one for about £15 and tbh honest it wasn't much better. If id known about the Spigen cases I would have got one of those.

So my friend had the iPhone 6 and 6+ printed out on foam board and both phones stick out of the back pocket now. First world problems eh.

I usually wear a small messenger/over the shoulder bag to carry my essentials in - can't wear fitted clothes and have pockets bulging, ruins the silhouette. Typically this hasn't included my phone as I tend to just have it on silent/vibrate, but given Watch solves that issue (when it comes out anyway) it'll just go in said bags.

The photographers among us have obviously known this for years but it's still lost on the majority of users and so many manufacturers still push it as the most important specification.

You only have to look at how much Nokia tried to hype their 40mp (or whatever it was) Lumia thing. Yeah right, who gives a toss about 40mp when the sensor is the side of a pin-head

Was actually very interested to see Apple's "Focus Pixels" thing during the keynote - basically the same technology Canon have in the 70D and forthcoming 7D2 and brings fast phase-detect AF to phones - a genuine innovation and improvement rather than the boring old "jack up the megapixel count" rubbish from most manufacturers.

You appear to have missed the point of of what Nokia were aiming to (and did) do with the pureview 40MP sensor. It wasn't about raw numbers it was about downsampling and being able to "zoom" without appreciable loss of quality. The sensor size was/is still way bigger than any phone sensor, and most compact sensors, the pixel size is huge on it. That is why the quality of the photo, especially downsampled to 5MP, is still superb.

Most other phones I agree though, the mantra of dump as many pixels in and hope for the best is definitely there for most Android phones.

And with 99 percent of tariffs with unlimited texts why not :p

That was going to be my point too. :p

Apple have a lot of propriety "systems" and it's a little annoying, however none I can think of do anything that isn't available with other systems.

Apple people use iMessenger, everyone else uses either text or whatsapp...
Facetime or you know, Skype...

All established technology that have been around for donkeys years with far wider penetration.

That said facetime worked a lot better in Africa when there was poor internet connection. The negative being I could only talk to one person with it, everyone else had Skype...

As someone who flits from system to system (WP, Android, iPad, MacBook, Windows Desktop... possible iPhone) relying on proprietary software is not something I like doing. Same way I didn't buy loads of Sony memory sticks or minidisks...

Don't buy one then, problem solved.

And I didn't realise I can text message an iPad user in a foreign country

Or just use whatsapp...? That's what most people do.

Personal preference is king but suggesting it's not possible to do something any other way is a weak argument...

Course you do! and of course it's that x feature that makes your financial brake button fail completely. You enjoy your purchase, I'm sure you won't regret it.

I don't see what EVH is talking about!? :D (congrats on hitting 20,000 posts EVH :))

Definitely thinking of waiting till late October/early November before buying one SIM only. I'll keep watch to see if tariffs do decrease after launch, but I really don't expect it. Plus, if there are any little problems, they should be fixed by then!

Why stick it in your back pocket though? :(

I'd rather use Windows Phone than Android because it values function over the ability to tinker, but Microsoft seem determined to drive that venture straight into a ditch, so there's only really two choices.

Any particular reason you think they are driving it into the ditch?

The only negative for me about WP is it doesn't quite have the app range of iOS and Android.

Whilst not explicitly an Android/Google thing, I do find it utterly pathetic how all of Samsung and Microsoft's tablet advertising consists of comparisons with, or plain rubbishing of, the iPad. Is this really these best they can do? It's rather sad.

I haven't seen any surface adverts rubbishing or particularly comparing it to an iPad. Partly, I'm guessing, because most of the surfaces are aimed at a different type of user to ipads.

The Surface seems to be concentrating on itself and I have to say, it's the only tablet I would have that isn't the iPad.

Do you live in a ghetto?

Or a case of them not paying attention to their surroundings.

I've never had my phone stolen or pick pocketed. The amount of people I see who go into a pub/bar and simply put their phone on the table without a care in the world and start chatting away, walking round with their phone in their back pockets sticking out, its blatant clumsiness. No wonder they have phones stolen so easily.

They've absolutely butchered Nokia in terms of staff after claiming they wouldn't, and they're about to embark on a rebranding effort to remove the Nokia name from future products. They don't understand that the 'Microsoft' and 'Windows' brand are toxic in a lot of people's eyes, being associated with the poorly set up, cheap slow desktop they stare into for 8 hours of their loathed working day.

I understand they're trying to present some sort of unified front and get the various platforms integrated, but they should do that before they flush the Nokia name down the toilet.

You need to plug it in! Obviously

I have backed up with icloud for years and lost/had stolen 4 iphones now in the past. Go into Apple shop, sign in and select restore. Everything downloads over wifi and 4g in no time at all. Including all apps, photos everything. Even the pictures I took on the night I had my phone stolen were backed up automatically to icloud over data connection.

If you ask me, thats much better than nobbing around plugging your phone into a pc to back it up / restore it.

You get the award as the most unlucky/careless person on planet earth.

The same augment could also be levelled at Apple products too.

Lot's of people won't go near Apple products because of, well it has to be said, people like you i.e. it's the Apple way or no way.
