always kept my 5C nice and safe, the week i order a 6 it ends up in the washing machine:o

spent most of the day trying to dry it out with a cool tower fan, now using full back light etc might use hair dryer after as it does turn on and has a stain under the digitizer and some streaking.

I bought the phone in November last year and it has extended applecare to Nov 2015 does anyone know if idiocy is covered

They say, if you drop your phone in water the best thing to do is put it in a bag of rice. How true this is I'm not sure as I've never tried it! And no, AppleCare won't cover water damage I don't believe.

AppleCare+ does cover two counts of accidental damage (with a £55 surcharge)

Just to clarify as well, if you have an 5C or 5S covered by any type of AppleCare, it'll be AppleCare+ and not just bog standard AppleCare (which is now gone for new customers). So to the OP, your cheapest bet will almost definitely be to cough up the £55 to get the unit replaced. A great deal IMO!

oh please be true i checked my iphone serial online and it said just plain applecare tho?

Rice isn't going to work if you've already turned the device on!

Water + power supply = bad

My advice is always to dry the device thoroughly, even leave it a week in a warm environment if you can, but don't EVER turn it on until you're certain there is no moisutre inside.

I'd even be tempted to open the case and blow a hairdrier over the inside.

I've always advised just sticking the phone somewhere warm (airing cupboard or somewhere similar) for a few days. Seems to work frequently.

Wife put hers through the washing machine.

Followed all the tricks and tips online for rescuing it - no luck. You may have killed it completely.

no it still works but the screen and camera look horrible, speaking to an apple support person on chat he is telling me i only have applecare and not applecare + and it will cost 206 sterlings so lamboman it appears you are wrong

it was on inside the washing machine and would wake if anyone called it, so I didn't have much choice
