H100i / H60 worth it?

are the Corsair WC units worth the money over a decent air cooler? I have a noctua NH-U12P at the moment and i'm pretty happy with it - but like the look of the water coolers over big heatsinks covering a lot of the mobo

How much more efficient are they? Also I guess the H100i would need specific mounting in a case - I have an old coolermaster storm scout at the moment that I don't really plan top change

cheers :D

The top end AIO coolers are similar to the top end air coolers. Not a huge amount of difference anyways. It's + and - depending on personal taste.

Though a low end AIO like a H60 will be a lot worse than top end air coolers. Have a look at your case specifics on coolermasters we page to see if it can support a h100i. If it can't have a look at a h80i, still a h80i will probably be worse than top end air.

cheers, that's what i was suspecting, not much point going backwards just for aesthetic reasons. I'm pretty sure a h100 wont fit my case, think its just got a 140mm fan in the top. is there a standard or do case manufacturers publish lists of which AIO systems fit?

cheers

Ive just changed my Noctua DH14 to a H100i and the H100i is quite a lot better. I've always wanted to change but people told me a high end air cooler such as the DH14 and AIO are the same in performance, I find the H100i much better.

If you have the space in the roof of your case then the H 100i is a very good option but if not and you are looking at a small RAD then look at the H80i not the H60. ..

Air coolers out perform CLC hands down. They run as cool or cooler e at 1/4 to 1/2 the noise, are cheaper, last longer, almost never fail, if the do it's easy to change a fan. But if a CLC fails it is usually the pump and with pump failure there is no cooling at all. At least with air coolers they will still cool enough to use system at low load.

Anyone saying otherwise has a poor grasp on reality. If they switched from top air to CLC and get better cooling it's because their case was not setup properly for air. CLCs are more forgiving because they use the case to keep their heated exhaust from mixing with cool intake air to radiator. It doesn't take much to have case airflow do the same for air coolers.
