Baby issue, Decent 4 seater convertible options to replace Mercedes SL

Absolutely wow on that Geekman, that is amazing. I'd have bought that regardless at that price, thats simply amazing. Frustratingly that sets a price benchmark for them, possibly an unrealistic one...

117 - Do it, the quattroporte is lovely. Real characterful car, i'd like one myself but i dont really want a Saloon right now.

Yeah i think an F12 BMW is just too much for what it is. I have looked at them quite a bit but i think I will revisit those once they have fallen in price a bit.

The CL216 is about the only non dated car for the money, but it doesnt exactly meet the original requirements :p

That said, i dont mind dated, i accept that this isnt anything like enough money to get an up to date car (these are all 6 figure cars for up to date ones). My SL is dated, but it doesnt stop it being an amazing car :)

We already have a couple of family cars, but i want this car to be a usable one, which she will end up using as it will be our "luxury" car. 2 seats is just useless to us now so its got to be replaced as soon as i can decide what to replace it with :)

Maybe it's because I've not gotten baby trapped yet (joke, congrats) but if you have 3 cars on the driveway why do you need a 3rd family car? I'm lost

It's a funny budget for luxury convertibles. Closest to a Mercedes driving experience might be a newer shape XKR?

Because I want all the cars to be usable to us, the fact that we have other cars is the only reason the thing is still with us at all and ive not got a move on :p

So have one nice family car, one nice car for adult time when you get a night off and one spare family run around? Why do you want 3 compromised cars? Feel free to just tell me I don't know what I'm talking about because I'm fairly sure that is the case, but I'm just thinking out loud.

Thats exactly what we have, but the nice car for adult time in reality doesnt get used, as we have very little of it. That same car for nice adult time might as well be usable all the time.

You are not talking rubbish at all.:) The situation is workable hence not getting a move on, but I do want to get rid of the 2 seater for something we will also like, but be able to always use. Right now we cant use the luxury powerful cabrio which i tax and insure for anything like visiting family or going anywhere with the baby, its very frustrating to have it sitting there and it might as well be swapped out making my road tax and insurance worth paying again

Stretching the budget, but how about an E93 M3? Although that also falls fowl of the same issue that the RS4 has of just being a normal 3 series inside.

Yeah no way to the M3 idea, for the same reasons as the RS4.

If any BMW it would be an E64 M6 Cabriolet or a 650i Cabriolet, the M6 isnt available as an automatic though. I do like them though, argh :(

I can see why you want the toy to be luxurious and usable when you have have a little one. The idea of a nice 2 seater parked up for use on a sunny day is nice, but totally unrealistic until the child is 5 or 6 tbh.

I'd up the budget and look at the 6 series cabrio's, the rest of you options will just feel like a downgrade for sure.

It depends if i drop the convertible requirement really, if i do then both the CL216 (500, 600, or 63, realistically i think i would want the 600) are available, as is the Bentley CGT. Both utterly epic cars.

Convertible is awesome though :(

Just curious jez, you mentioned earlier that you don't like the 6.2 v8 as much as some of the other Mercedes-Benz engines. Just curious as to why? I guess it wouldn't be as smooth as the v12s. But it's usually an engine that is raved about.

I dont like N/A engines when compared with powerful F/I ones, they dont suit my lazy driving style as well.

That said its obviously a fairly immense engine in its own right, failing a F/I engine being available i'd happily have one :)

I totally get that. No point in having a car that you can't enjoy as a family.

I have no idea about this end of the car market but my first thought on reading the post was a 911 cab. Anyway, congratulations and good luck with the car hunt.
