Right, looking to upgrade from my 680sli setup to a 970 or 980.

Is it worth it? What sort of jump in performance will I see?

To a single card? You'll see a drop, unless you are vRAM limited in your games.

You'll probably want to go up to 980SLI.

I've been looking at 970SLI from 670SLI and it looks like a 30-50% uplift. I also game at 1440p so the extra vRAM is going to come in handy.

Unless you are going to go SLI again then you could stay with the current setup you have. A 980ti might be a good answer though but it will be a lot more expensive than 2 970s and we don't know the specs yet

I've been looking at this quandary too and not sure a single card will provide much benefit. Need to wait for some more benchmarks and the top end cards.

Andi.

Really?

Damn.

I would have expected a 980 to be a jump over my 680 sli setup?

Oh well, at least my bank balance will be happy!

670/80's still perform very well in SLI , what kind of performance are you getting now and does it need upgrading?

Since SLI/CF scales well for the first two GPU's, the GPU to upgrade to would have to be twice as fast as the old GPUs ... simply put, they're not twice as fast as your 680.

I've gone from SLI 680s to a single 980. Yeh there may be a slight performance drop, or its about the same, but I did it for other reasons (temperature and fan noise!)
