*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Caved in and picked up a copy while I was super poorly over the last week / weekend.

Destiny review; Spectacularly average :p.

I just find it very dull and it doesn't draw me in, no real connection with the world / game.

I'm ok to sell the game on aren't I? (PS4)

Max amount of crucible marks 200? It's not increasing for me. I've check my weekly amount its been reset and still not moving up.

Anyone else with the same problem?

Do you only start tp get pruple drops once you hit Vanguard rank 1 ?

I'm about 450 points away and as of yet being level 21 now have had 0 purples

I did all the strikes except the level 24 one last night.

I would at least give it until you get to level 25 or so. It gets better.

Sorry, but that is such a rubbish excuse to continue playing a game.

'It gets better after XX hours of play', a game should be at least grabbing, engaging from the first minute, as any good media should be, or at least show big glimpses of it.

I've already replayed the same locations time and time again, missions are at least, if not more, repetitive.

The actual shooting mechanics are good, fantastic even, but the enemy AI and the 'bullet sponge' 'bosses' are just really poor.

By missions do you mean strikes.? I need to get to rep 2 on the vangard. Got my first purple from the loot cave, (did have 3 drops).

I also really love this game.

No, by missions i mean the solo heroic lv24 missions (like the daily heroic but lvl 24). Can be done in ~15-20 mins depending on which mission

4 shards per hour eh - I know what I'm doing this week. I need >40 of them currently. I'll buy a legendary helm this week too so no doubt will need even more there.

Do you get Shards from the Queen's lvl 24 missions?

Don't take my word as gospel as only got info from reddit not in game, but from what I can ascertain

10) Do Queen Bounty
20) Do Queen Mission (which you get each time you hand in bounty)
30) Get legendary each time you complete mission
40) Dissasemble for ~2 shards
50) GOTO 10

Should be able to do that about twice an hour = 4 shards an hour

And i'm busy all week... no time to grind :( Though bored of grinding now after doing 25 10 min Nexus runs for Exotic Bounty

So this queen mission just gives the same legendary helmet every time, right?

I've heard of two drops per class helmet and chest... guessing it's a coin flip each time

sounds like the game is not for you then lol.
no worries just trade it in and play something else.
p.s. the raid encounters are pretty damn complex, just a shame that you have to wait that long to start experiencing a proper challenge which isn't just due to enemies having stupid high health. but if you can hold out that long, it's pretty epic experience. I'm suprised how well MMO boss encounters work in an FPS actually.

that's interesting to know.

well, what are you saving them for anyway?

might as well get some legendaries, even if only to get more ascendant materials.

in that case this probably is too MMO for your liking.

Bullet sponge bosses are part and parcel of the MMO experience. Likewise the enemy AI and the way that they spawn in mobs etc..

Its exactly what I expected between a Halo FPS and MMO hybrid.

You've got a point about seeing the same locations again and again. I was amazed that all of the missions on the same planet effectively took place on the same map, but on different parts, which each part needing to pass by sections you've seen in other missions, the worlds simply aren't big enough to separate all the missions out.

I normally get 2 vanguard marks for doing a public event. Not sure if you only get them for the first event you do that day, or for each event.

Just reached vanguard level 2, shame I only have 100 marks :(

Has any anyone done their exotic weapon bounties? Do you get a random weapon from it, or do you get to choose from a selection?

there is a specific exotic weapon from each individual exotic weapon bounty.
quick google search will bring up the list for you.
worth knowing before you pick your bounty from the options available to you. don't wanna spend ages doing some pointless stuff for a weapon you don't even want or like xD

I've played MMO's and still do, but even on World of Warcraft the boss fights have some sort of tactic to them, I'm yet to find this, it's just a case of keep moving and shooting, bosses aren't 'powerful' in the sense that if their main attack (weapon) hits you, it hurts, beyond that it's not much more to them than a huge health bar.

AI, is poor, when you think this is Bungie that gave the world Halo, the AI on this is not even on par with the first Halo. Did the AI guy leave or something?

It feels, very much so, like a Halo game, the movement, the mechanics, the fights (the actual combat is almost flawless, the shooting, the melee are excellent) but it's all very Halo.

The maps, repetitive game play and total lack of storyline, lack of engagement (reflected in the almost non connection between myself and the game) just lead my opinion to be that this might well be a well designed shooter at it's core, but a very, exceptionally average game has grown out of that.

The way I'm viewing Destiny overall is that it is very much a Shell as far as scope goes. 15-20 modifications and it could be the most amazing experience ever.

However, despite it feeling like the foundations (of what could be built into a mansion) I'm still put in 50 hours. Most games don't even get my attention that much when fully realised.
The core gameplay is fantastic and playing with friends adds a lot of value.

It's working out well too in that with so many games coming up by the time I reduce my hours per week on this then content will be coming while I'm playing other games.

it's fits exactly with what I expected, but I have high hopes for what it could become in the future.

Thanks I found them :) doing the one for the shotgun at the moment, which I don't mind as it's a fairly easy bounty and also the shotgun owns in the crucible :D
