It really sucks that there's no matchmaking in the daily and weekly story/strike modes because that seems like the best way to get Vanguard marks and rep.

Agree, don't see why they left that out. Not all friends are on at the same time always.
I hope they change this in an update.

heroic strike is hard enough that a group of lvl 22 randomers probably won't be able to clear it. anything where you are likely to wipe, they disable matchmaking.

Do bounty, then a mission appears on the quick bar on the left.

1st run legendary guard helm, 2nd run legendary guard plate. Just need it to give me some better weapons now.

Level 24 now and I picked up my first legendary - a machine gun! Had some good pvp sessions tonight. 750/3000 on rep to get to lvl2 with New Monarchy. Looking to get a full set of legendaries before the Iron Banner starts.

Depends which missions you're getting, but the 2 I've been getting I've managed to get through fairly easily.
and depends on your level and armour/weapons.

Just finished the weekly nightfall heroic 2 of us got exotic helmets for our warlocks we were not expecting that at all.

Purples can drop as soon as you're 18 I believe.

I'm just being very unlucky then lol.
