Glad you enjoyed it. Was one of those moments where you can see it all going wrong right before your eyes. :D I got lucky though - good job it was in a small ship, might not have been so lucky if I was in something a bit bigger!

Played this today for the first time at EGX London and also met David Braben.

The game is mindblowing! Will have to purchase now.

Got a free elite dangerous shirt too :)

He said Beta 2 is out on Tuesday as well.

I guess you all know about this - but the prices seem to pretty much real time so really helps.

That's an excellent tool (I made my first million using it) but when the full game comes out you'll need to know how to read the galaxy map with trade routes etc as there'll be far too many systems to make it a viable application to use.

Can't wait for beta 2 to come out.

After playing with the EDTracker I am beginning to question if I really need it on a single 27" screen.

I'm not sure if the 27" is what you've got now or are thinkingof getting...

However, have you considered an Eyefinity set-up?

I've got a 3-screen set-up with two cheap (one is 2nd-hand) monitors either side of the main one. So I've got a mega display area that was pretty cheap. Works well with EDTRacker too.

I have one now yes, I don't really have the space right now for an Eyefinity setup plus I really really hate the whole bezel issue. For me to do it I'd have to have almost invisible bezels as I have seen, the screens would need to be IPS as well and 1440p minimum so for this reason I've stayed with one for many years :)

I do know what you mean. I've approached this at the opposite end - I have a low powered system, I needed a new monitor for a 2-monitor setup for work, so I thought I'd dabble with eyefinity to see if it worked.

The bezel issue did worry me, but in practice I haven't really noticed it. Especially in ED.

The side monitors can be pretty low res as I only use them for visual clues - your in-game actions and your eyes always focus on the middle monitor.

But my approach was get a cheap semi-disposable monitor to try a 3-monitor setup. If it doesn't work then not much lost. But it does work withn limits...

21/9 3440x1440 monitors out next month. £500-550.

Its nearly exactly 1/3 wider than current 1440 monitors. I'm debating whether to go for one of these or try to gheto a 2nd 1650x1050 22" onto the edge of my current 1080p 24" with ATI's new eyefinity that doesn't require identical screens.

Woooohooooo! Didn't know that you could now mix resolutions for eyefinity. I have a pair of 20" screens sitting unused and ready for when I get a new desk. They were to flank a Dell 30" for a PLP setup. Until this point I had assumed they would only be useful for non gaming work :)

From what I've read it drops all 3 to the lowest common denominator for pixel height.

Ie. 1050 + 1080 + 1050 of my above example becomes 1650x1050 + 1920x1050 + 1650x1050. So fairly naff when used with 900p side monitors, or people using a 1440 center screen with two old monitors on the sides. Unless they can turn the side monitors 90deg (portrait style).

And only on recent (7xxx and 2xx) cards. My (5 year old next month) 5850 needs replacing anyway to do this. I saw a new minimum fps (max settings no AA 1080p) of 20fps tonight in Elite.

Been a long time since a game has come out and made me want to spend £800 on a new monitor and gfx card instead of just turning the settings down to get >30fps.

Mine, when the side monitors are rotated to portrait, would all be 1600 vertical resolution so would be ideal. But sadly I just googled it and it seems that PLP is not yet supported as they must all be in landscape mode. Blast.

You can run Eyefinity in 'Expand' mode, which basically creates a virtual screenmode that fills all monitors.
The middle monitor runs at its native res & the side monitors lose some pixels on the top & bottom, depending on their size & how their vertical position is set in Eyefinity.

http://www.eteknix.com/amd-eyefinity-3-0-allows-mixed-resolution-support/

I'm currently running 2 17" 1280x1024 Dells, with a 24" 1920x1080 BenQ in the centre.

Afaik it's better if the side monitors are of the same make (less potential issues?) but don't quote me on that.

Caved in and finally sprung the extra £15 for the beta.

Haven't even plugged in my joystick yet so had a quick bash at mouse & keyboard and I am crap :D.

I'll have to get the joystick and edtracker setup over the weekend and give it proper go.

Not yet. 2014 seems a little unlikely to me given we're only just about going into the second public beta, and there's still a considerable amount of the game missing.

We're having another "Die horribly at a nav beacon" session tonight if anyone wants to join in. Usually involves lots of law enforcement and tons of cargo floating about for the taking :) Just hop on TS about 20:30 and we'll get you in the group.
