Turns out EE will not authorise any F&F discount's*, earliest for that to become available is December.

SIM-free it is then!

*I'm guessing it would mean any more discounts, as some will probably already have theirs on a deal through it. Shame, but it means i'll be staying on Three. :p

It's less stable, in general, and the apps simply aren't as good on average, not even close. I feel as though I'm suffering having to use the Play Store.

I also like having iMessage/FaceTime available, it's handy as most people I know have got an iPhone and I like the integrated solution rather than Whatsapp, etc.

I wouldn't really gain anything from Android either, I open my phone to do something with it, almost always inside an app (which as I mentioned, I find to be a lot better). Widgets are just a pain more often than not, and I don't find them genuinely useful.

My only issue has been the screen size and now Apple offer two excellent size options. Either of the new iPhones would be my perfect phone, pretty much, and I'll get one soon.

It's just my honest opinion, having tried hundreds of apps on both (on loads of phones too). I like Android, I just don't want it.

I like iOS and the way it works too, for the record, I don't have any issues with how it does things.
 
Have you used/owned an android phone recently though?

I can see your point if talking about samsung/touchwiz devices but the latest HTC phones and especially the nexus 5 are far from buggy these days. If anything it seems like this ios 8 update has made every previous iphone/ipad a buggy mess, talking to a fellow member earlier on and he said he has updated 3 different ipads and all are freezing, crashing and suffering severe battery loss now.

Apps wise, I have tried hundreds of apps and they all feel/work fine on my stock nexus 5 but since the nexus 5 works so well out of the box already, I haven't felt the need to stick with 3rd party apps, a lot of the apps feel very unified now and with android L coming up and apps being updated with the "material" design, they are only going to get better.

Not sure what is wrong with the play store either? Easy to browse and find any app I want on both my phone, tablet and PC. Quick and easy process for buying apps etc. If anything, there is too much choice now!

Not debating which software/phone you prefer, as you said, that is personal preference, just your points for not finding android as good :)

One thing that really bugs me on iOS is the scrolling... It's like treacle!

I prefer free scrolling and being able to flick around the page with little resistance.
 
I bought a HTC One M8 shortly after it came out and had it for a few days. I liked everything about it but I just found the apps to be lacking. That's my main sticking point. It's not that the apps don't work, it's that they don't feel as polished and well made, on average - not all of them. It just bothers me, it's like the Android apps aren't coded properly sometimes, and the animations feel a bit naff, even on some of the more popular ones, where on iOS it's more fluid and smooth.

If there was no difference, then I'd be quite tempted to get an Xperia Z3 over an iPhone, but I can't even consider it really as it stands. As I said though, take away the app difference and I still don't gain much out of Android, I grew bored of the customisation stuff a while back - it's still a positive for Android, but only if you want it.

I'm not saying the software is flawed and buggy, but for what I'm doing and the apps I use, the iOS versions are better.

I've got iOS 8 on my current 5s and iPad Air and it's working fine (bar a wifi issue which I fixed), but there have been more than a few problems with it, as we've seen. :p

All in all for what I want, the iPhone 6 (or Plus) is near on perfect. It ticks every single box.

copy it and make it better of course.....

as a android user i like its freedom compare to the apple (every rep at work asks me to setup their phone for email etc)

apple is extremely restrictive and linear in its setup. some may argue this is a good thing. the touch screen is miles behind the other manufacturers i've had contact with. htc samsung sony........

I have the HTC One M8, and I am changing to the iPhone 6+ for mostly the same reasons as Robbo.
 
Went into the Leicester store to be told that no iPhones are available to buy (walk in purchase) but I have to go on the website and reserve one. The guy in store said check the website at midnight as that is when they update it. And any reservations that weren't picked up on the day are available the next day for reserve. Anyone know if this is correct?

I will keep on checking https://reserve.cdn-apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone/availability because I'd like to go get one tomorrow.

Yes it is. It's how I reserved my iPhone 6, 64gb space grey.

Loving my phone. I like mixing it up every couple of years (between Andriod and iOS) and it's a breath of fresh air (as it is switching the other way too).
 
They get deliveries almost daily, so by checking regularly you'll be able to see what they have in, as they get it in.

I'm sure there's an element of the reserved phones feeding back in to the system though.

That used to be the case but not anymore. With my iPhone 6 I found that the screen coating had a lot of resistance, it's much easier to move around on my Nexus. And with Safari on iOS displaying no scroll acceleration unlike Chrome on Android, just moving around these forums became tiresome.
