I wish AMD or Nvidia would bring out single GPU For 4K gaming at ultra settings & 60 fps.

it cant be done, the single GPU card will need to be really powerful.

the Dual card will do it soon, but if on air only, it'll have to be bigger than 2 slots deep...but cooled by water instead and it'll be ok.....

the Dual Card is a single lump that's hardly any bigger than a 290X, so its size is of no importance at all.......only it's price :eek:

It's just a set feature they've put in for down sampling, it's a form of supersampling that renders the image to the scale of your native resolution. In all honesty although down sampling is a great method it's not half as good as having the true pixel count. You can tell quite easily with most panels that there is more being shown than what is being put out which results in loss of clarity. A 4k panel in comparison is day and night.

This.

Downsampling or DSR as it is called now on the 9 series is a great feature and does improve the quality of the image but regardless, you still only have the same amount of pixels as your monitor can display, so it will never look as good as a real 4K monitor.

Ohhhh and I think we need to find a card that can "Fully" max out every game at 1080P before we can start thinking about 4K :p

I've not seen a decent 1440p screen yet worth forking out for let alone 4K, I want at least 1440p with a VA/IPS panel at 120Hz+ with G-Sync.

I've been running a Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" for 2 years, then a NEC 24WMGX3 24" TFT for over 5 years, nothing to me is worth forking out the extra cash for at present, the tech has moved too slow.

I've used a TN panel once! Urghh! it soon went back!

Snob :p

:D

i saw a 4k tv the other day and it was brilliant, as the camera panned around a cathedral, it was actually so realistic that it looked full 3D :eek::eek:

until the camera panned fast............OH DEAR, yes they dont have anything like enough processing power to render high speed movement accurately..... early 1080p TVs were the same too........the dreaded motion blur.

True 4K TV is about two years off, but when it's running right it'll look brilliant

Just too used to VA panels, before those 2 1200p screens I had a 19" VA panel around 2005 that cost £400!

Hell even my 32" Samsung TV I bought last year uses a VA panel lol. :(

They should just start making huge CRT monitors again, I would defo buy another if they made them 27" + No ghosting, or dead pixels to worry about. :D

I guess I am less picky, as I had a Dell 1440P IPS (cost me a fortune) and hated it. Sure the colour shift wasn't there for me but it just felt so damned unresponsive and for twitch shooters, I hated the colours seemingly running into each other and a fair chunk of lag. Mind you at that time, I had a slow internet with a high ping, so the 2 combined really didn't help.

yes, but the best is Laser RPTV, it has no motion blur/ ghosting at all.... but they cant get it working reliably via a slim screen, it only works with the gun directly behind the screen like the RPTV, which means it'll be 25'' thick :D

Mitsibishi had laserview slim screen, it was the best P.Q in the world, but they couldn't set up the mirrors accurately enough to project the image on the screen, so the technology was dropped..............that's cheap plastic for you !!!!!!!

Do they have plans to do this ? because I don't want to be buying duel GPU with all the problems they have with old and current games.
I think they need to relese a single GPU that can run games at 1440p at ultra settings at 60 fps first.............:p

But then why would they want to do that when they make more money by making people buy two GPU's to ran in SLI/crossfire...;););)

Might happen in a few years with the right mixture of hardware and refined dx12/mantle style API. Doubt its possible on dx11 though.

34" 21:9 ultra wide monitor is a better upgrade than 4K the immersion is way better than 16:9 regardless of resolution ;)

Just come back from america and in The Sears shop they had 4k 120hz tv's, and 1 240hz one, Not sure if it was 240hz or not but they all looked nicer than the ones here.

I wish there was a single gpu that you could just buy for solid ultra & 60fps.. Never going to happen though.

But yet again, I just built up a old system for my missis using my old parts, c2d and 2900XT, and it runs ESO just fine constant high fps on medium, and in reality, that whole system now costs less than the price of a 295X2.

Heck even my whole system you could get second hand for the price of one 295X2..

So after seeing that I can actually play the same games I play on my system on that old one, its made me lay off the upgrades for a while now until something that's etleast double the performance is available for less than 1000 pound for a full system upgrade. im through with chasing the best, its too expensive!

well after buying a r9 295x2 some games with mantel I was hitting 60fps solid with vsync in 4k.Had to have vsync on because the tearing was terrible.

Now in other games I was getting 40-60 fps fluxing and it was noticeable so I have bit the bullet and I will be trying out tri fire tomorrow with a r9 290x and the r9 290 so hoping for a solid 60 fps at 4k!

I think it's possible, I just think the horsepower will just go on image quality and features. Also not enough people have 4k displays to make it a focus for Nvidia/AMD.

1440p screens still aren't "mainstream" yet.

Maybe when we switch from silicon to Graphene and the bugs are ironed out we might be able to get there. And I feel Silicon is coming close to its end and we need something to replace it. I know they were having a few issues with Graphene (Defects and mass production) but they seem to have gotten to grips with it.

Worth a read for those that are interested.

1080 on crysis 3 maxed is still not easy.

Crysis games will always be an exception. It's Crytek's goal to create something that looks insanely beautiful. Which is probably why they're terrible games to play.

Regardless, with a GTX980 at 1920x1080 you'll be looking at between 40-70fps with 4xAA. I'd say that's easily playable wouldn't you? Even the 290X is around 45-50 average.
Again, what's "maxed"? You can make it easier by lower AA to 2x or just using FXAA. The in-game settings are still "Maxed". Or really "max" it by enabling 16xAA.
