Best SSD

Do you think 256GB will give you enough space for your OS and all your regular programs?

Yes as i currently have a 120g in my Laptop and a fair percentage spare but want to put more on but not a vast amount

just avoid the evo models for the time being, the Samsung pro models are fine

best mx100 range is best value/performance atm

If it were me, I'd get the Samsung 850 Pro. You're getting more than 3 times the warranty (10 years) for only double the price

Or you could look at it the other way, getting the same capacity with the Crucial for half the price.

It depends where your priorities lie.

So,how are we feeling about the longevity of these MX 100 drives?

After all, they are so new how do you know they won't run into the same issues the Samsung Evo's are?

I believe every 'new' product carries that risk.

So when I bought my MX100 I partly based my decision on how they handled their previous issue with the M4 timebomb bug on my old m4 64gb.

Yes,well said Kmax86,

maybe I'll stop faffing about and go get one today,WD RMA'd my dodgy Caviar Black too so I'll need something to tide me over while that happens.

Just added a MX100 256GB to my system today and boot is around 10 seconds now, everything lightening fast, very happy.

I've turned indexing off as I read that writes to the drive more than is absolutely necessary but are there other things to do to help ensure top performance and longevity for these SSD's?

i think you should turn indexing back on. it is extremely annoying not to have indexing when you want to search for files on systems...plus the small files windows write is hardly going to be significant for the size of the drive you are talking about

I have also just bought an MX100 512GB drive. No mechanical drives at all in my machine. Been waiting a long time for that to become economical!

Just got a MX100 512MB for my new build and it's nice and fast. Fingers crossed, defo glad I got it over the EVO.

Using it as an OS drive and for steam.
