Drank Red Bull and not grown wings? You could be...

Oh dear at daily fail.
It's actually to do with the caffeine and that it has less than coffee etc.

It was also a settlement in America, which was cheaper for them than fighting it.

If you go to a half reasonable website its actually that they claimed it gave you more energy over a coffee/caffeine pill, or that's what the claiming claims. Which it doesn't as it has less caffeine in it.

The Red Bull false ad settlement does come with scrutiny and other claims. The plaintiffs explain, “The thrust of the allegations herein is that the functional benefits of consuming Red Bull are not superior to the benefits from ingesting an equivalent amount of alternate sources of caffeine, and that consumers have been misled.”

Also their has been no judgment, it was settled out of court, due to

Red Bull settled the lawsuit to avoid the cost and distraction of litigation. However, Red Bull maintains that its marketing and labeling have always been truthful and accurate, and denies any and all wrongdoing or liability.”

I love all the responses from people who haven't even read the link, here I'll quote to save you a whole click...

In one of the lawsuits, a consumer who had been drinking the product for years wrote that they had experienced no increase in performance, concentration of reaction speed.

'Such deceptive conduct and practices mean that [Red Bull's] advertising and marketing is not just "puffery," but is instead deceptive and fraudulent and is therefore actionable,' the suit says.

'Even though there is a lack of genuine scientific support for a claim that Red Bull branded energy drinks provide any more benefit to a consumer than a cup of coffee, the Red Bull defendants persistently and pervasively market their product as a superior source of "energy" worthy of a premium price over a cup of coffee or other sources of caffeine,' the suit says.

Now, personally I'm glad this stuff would be dealt with by the ASA rather than compensation over here, but it's not as absurd as "didn't get wings".

Can someone explain please why the world *needs* lawyers? They are very expensive, and the only function they seem to perform is to **** everybody who isn't a lawyer over.

I am struggling to see what we as a species have accomplished that is creditable to lawyers? Personally, I'd send them all back.
