Retiring in your 30s

Would love to. It's not going to happen. I will have to work for as long as I've been alive before I retire.
 
Only if you win tonight's euro would it be feasiable

Then its £1,000,000 a year living expense or less if you choose to buy a house, couple of cars, caravan some were, boat in a marina etc.

But in the normal world I'd say its very difficult - you might be able to theoretically save enough if you were well paid / a contractor of some sort and take 6 months off, then work 6 months - I know a few of the guys I work with do this every year
 
I don't anticipate ever retiring. By the time I get to 68 the retirement age will be 75, by the time I get to 75 they will have inserted a clause in my contract giving them the right to exhume my corpse and turn it into a half cyborg, half zombie office worker.

This seems to be the mindset of young entrepreneurs, they don't stop after they've reached their first 1million, 10million, 100million. It's a case of keep pushing further and see what happens.
 
I'm 28, unless I win the lottery anytime soon, fat chance of retiring by then.

To be honest though, to retire at 30 isn't me. I'll probably use the lottery fund to start my own business. There's only so much gaming and golfing one can do from 30 to death.
 
I know someone that retired at 40 after doing rather well for himself in his investments and being careful with money. However after 2 years he got bored and does consultancy work now for up to 6 months of the year. He's worked hard, but had little life outside of work. However, he's enjoying himself now, but he also feels he may have missed out on a decent part of his life.
 
I am also 26 and it is also my goal to do exactly that, but i'd like to be 40...

But right now I can't see myself being happy at 40 doing "nothing"
 
I know one person who retired late 30s. Think he was 39. Wasn't really his money though, he'd sponged off his parents all his life and had basically accrued enough that he doesn't need to work again. As he once put it 'I go to work for pocket money'
