**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Pretty mighty considering the epic screen res and horsepower...

... it would have fared even better than 87hrs if they did a fair test. As @ 50% brightness the Note 4 is nearly 300nits, brighter than most phones @ 50%. LG G3 is just over 100nits @ 50% for example. iPhone 6 ~ 200 nits, Lumia 930 ~150nits, M8 ~ 250nits.

It uses the Sony IMX240. From what ive seen its pretty good!

When it comes to low light we pit the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 against the Samsung Galaxy S5. Both have 16MP ISOCELL cameras with identical f/2.2 apertures...

Panoramas come out at an incredibly high resolution. The maximum resolution in portrait shooting is a whopping 56.6MP (Apple just upgraded the maximum Panorama resolution for the latest iPhones to 43MP), while in landscape you get a decent 28MP. Detail is great, especially in the higher-resolution of the two and there are no visible stitching artefacts anywhere.

Right well I've ported my number over to 3 on payg for the time being. I'll test out their reception and 4g speeds for a few weeks.

When can we expect to get the note 4 on a reasonably priced contract? The prices are similar to iPhone contracts atm I.e. Ridiculous! Unlimited 4G data, and about 300 minutes is enough for me.

This is the problem, some sites say its the sony sensor and others suggest it is the samsung sensor. WTH!

Also I want to see some proper still comparisons with the z3 and note 4, what I've seen if it was real doesn't look good =/

I found this...

Note 4 - FREE (inc £27 quidco cashback)
Unlimited Calls
Unlimited Texts
1GB Data

£28/month (O2 network)

My sister gets a discount on O2 so when this contract comes through, I will be using her code and applying the discount, hopefully it works. If it doesn't work, the above is still MUCH cheaper than any Note 4 contract so far. Data isn't enough for me so I won't be keeping the SIM for my own use, unless once I apply the discount code I can increase the data allowance significantly and keep it under £30 a month.

Edit: Deal via mobiles.co.uk which I have used before.

Order Update:

'Due to high demand this is out of stock so we are unable to send the order out to you. We are sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.

We will update you again within 7 days...'

Phone isn't out for another week yet so the above was expected. I'm just wondering if they'll honour the deal, my brother has just ordered one as well and it's slowly blowing up on hotukdeals.

1 whole GB! What is this, 2008?

You can increase the data allowance once you have the contract by paying more, I think. Not been on o2 for a long time so don't know the exact costs involved, I'm just hoping my discount code works!!

I'll probably be staying with 3 on payg actually.

I'm sure the above is a price error, same site has the same deal for £38 a month. Then again the last time I ordered from mobiles.co.uk, they were £250 cheaper than the network so who knows.

Excellent, thanks for posting :)

I was trying to decide on my next phone and had previously ignored the Note 4 due to the cost, but the deal you posted is the exact same deal I'm currently on that finishes in a few weeks, so with the £300 I'd saved for the handset it makes my monthly cost £14.38! (I'm mostly on WiFi anyway so 1GB will be just about enough) :)

I've ordered the black, what did you go for?

Same, I ordered the black. :)

Don't worry about the out of stock email, it's due to the phone being pre-order only as it's not out yet. The deal has exploded on hotukdeals, was 170 hot when I ordered, now over 500 and still going.

Fingers crossed my sisters o2 discount works! I know it doesn't apply to iPhones.

Yes, most are normally 500 nits. The Z3s also do 700+nits. But it just looks better on OLED

Not necessarily! In lower brightness where blacks are concerned AMOLED>LCD every single time but at brightness values that high the need to have blacks pitch black is negated by the fact that your eyes are being burned by the insane brightness - If set in manual mode in normal conditions.

In auto mode that brightness is reached on either phone in conditions where it matters, like in direct sunlight, in such conditions the difference between LCD and AMOLED is zilch because the only thing that matters is being able to see the screen properly.

Normally I'd side with AMOLED on this matter but having used and owned the latest LCD I can honestly say that there's not much difference in it in actual real world use.

Yeah, I was just impressed how OLED is hitting such high brightness.

To me there will always be a huge difference, and OLED is just getting better every 6 months.

The OLED on the Note 4 sounds immense. Colour accuracy, brightness, pixel density. Really, nothing compares IMO.

And none of that has any bearing on the brightness which is what is being talked about.

Actually, on adaptive mode the screen boosts gamut to compensate for washed out colours. So it'll still look great in bright environments.
