So after grinding my second character from rank 3 to rank 14, I managed to pick up 2 coins in story mode - one from the winter kell and one from a gold chest on mars. I picked up another doing engrams and picked up another 2 doing public events on friday + saturday as both my characters. That left it at about 11pm on saturday, needing one coin more to get ice breaker, with only a few hours left.

I then proceeded to grind the heck out of the strike playlist. First 5 strikes I did i returned to the tower, more engrams than I could carrry and decrypted the lot.... Not one single coin. This was about 12:30 and time was running out. I went back into the playlist and did 3 more strikes and got a boat load more engrams. Went back to the tower and decrypted them ....

And proceeded to get 1 strange coin out of my engrams, then another out of the cryparch package I got for leveling up. Wait hours for one and then two turn up :D Long story short, I got ice breaker, but by god was it one of the most hard earnt exotics I've got. Some just fell into my lap for doing the nightfall and others were part of the exotic weapon bounties. This however, was playing pretty much solid most of saturday afternoon / night and all of friday night all for 6 freaking coins.

God knows why this game doesn't have a currency exchange that lets you swap say 10 vanguard marks for a strange coin and lets you trade in vanguard marks for crucible marks so you can buy armor from the faction vendors when doing PVE.

its not the mythoclast which is what everybody wants. Its a fusion rifle that sits in your primary weapon slot and fires the fusion bursts in blobs, almost like bullets.

Its crazy in the crucible and is only obtained from doing the raid on hard. People go in the vault wanting that, or maybe one of the other raid exclsive armor or weapons (I've got Atheon's Epiloge, a raid exclusive auto rifle and Hazen vengence a raid exclusive rocket launcher) and to get given a sparrow that you can buy from the vendors, is a bit of a kick in the teeth.
 
I had a similar experience last week but ended it failure - needed 4 strange coins before Xur left and luckily enough 2 came from a public event reward and decrypting a class item but for love nor money I couldnt get 2 more from whatever I did so I didnt get Red Death...

...and then it popped up as a reward in Raid a few days ago :p. Dont like it that much though, glad I didnt spend coins on it...

Next mission is to get my level 14 secondary character up to a point it can be carried round the weekly heroic by others and get 18 coins a week :D

ridiculous how this game tries and holds people back. You can't make up for lack of content by just giving people crap gear in return for their efforts, and hoping they will continue playing in attempt to get lucky and get good gear. This whole game is skewed, the reward is not proportional to the risk of the mob, nor is the reward proportional to the amount of time you put in. Everything was random at the start, I think we're lucky they've conceeded the strike rewards were so crap and upped the drops on them.

THeres no way you should be getting the same level of drops farming level 2 dregs on earth as you do taking on level 18 centurions on mars.

there are clans, but they make sod all difference to anything. All it does is just stick your clan name in your details.

Its more halo than mmo in that respect. I'd help but i'm on XB1. I'm sure there are plenty of other OcUKers on PS4 who would help however :)

I have one now too, should come in handy for the raid or strikes, though I don't think I earned it quite the way you did Fr0dders, wow :D
 
I'm loving the new sparrow I got from the raid on hard mode, it's so fast! I almost bought one of the drive things from Xur too so glad I didn't.

The mythlocast is very strong, I'm surprised it's allowed to be used in the crucible to be honest! Going to try level that up for the extended magazine! :)

Only downside is it looks a bit crap strapped to your back in the tower haha.

I concur - I won one the other day - hitting L1 and L2 allows you to dodge pretty easily too for when your screaming through areas with a large number of enemies. Nice blue flame at the rear and a HUD lol.

Still need to get that Weekly Nightfall strike done - anyone up for it after 8-ish today?

I love the way it gradually falls apart when you're doing the high speed boost, I thought it was just going to blow up randomly while boosting but the colour, sound and the hud on the back make it a joy to blast about on!

I'm stuck and just cannot get past 24 :-(

Think I need groups to start doing the heroics but not really sure?
