Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

A tip for some - make sure to fast forward time manually.

I've been finding the game really easy to be honest and was just slicing through the ranks to the point where there was only 1-2 alive and it made the map seem a little less interesting when you were not bumping into Captains anymore.

I never thought to fast forward time to fill up the gaps again.

I thought the higher power enemies would offer more of a challenge like. I took out a Power 16 warchief with 1 stealth from above attack and the other 3 I fought head on didn't even hit me and went down in only 3-4 attacks. being surrounded by 3 or 50 doesn't make any difference due to how lenient the counter attack prompt is. It's almost impossible to get hit unless you miss a ranged attack icon and forget to dodge it.

Maybe I have to just keep advancing time to rank up a bunch of the Orcs etc then start playing properly from there to up the challenge. As of now, I'm unsure as to how the humans haven't just took over Mordor because the Orc army is pathetic!! lol

Wow, I'm the opposite. Finding it quite challenging to be honest!
Still trying to take care of the Warchiefs :)

It gets a lot easier as you gain and upgrade your powers. Combat brand in particular is useful. Also really pays to use the interactive things dotted around. I had one warchief where all I did was release a carragor and that killed him for me.

Good to know, cheers
It does get a little frustrating getting swarmed by Uruk's at times, but I guess I just need to lvl up a bit more first.
I've heard it's quite a big game, so no point in rushing it I guess

Gets pretty ridiculous when you're in a stronghold and the alarm goes off, you can literally be swarmed by 50 Uruks!

Got the branding unlocked, opens up a whole world of different possibilities.

Enjoying this more than any of the Assassins Creed or Batman games, which are obviously quite similar.

I am not here to knock this game, I have only played around 3/4 hours - I just want to make this clear before I make my point.

So far... I don't quite understand some of the high ratings this game has received. First thing I did was climb a tower to allow the area of the map to open, followed by diving head first and rolling to land comfortably.... at this point I had to check I hadn't put Assassins Creed in the PS4 by mistake. I played on, bumped into a group of Orcs and I transformed into Batman. Back to Assassins creed style menus I went and then found it very difficult to care to much about the lore in the world.... and I love the Lord of the Rings franchise.

So I have been going around fighting, following the story and then hunting down a few captains and I just don't see what all the fuss is about. Do I need to give this more time? I was free yesterday but couldn't seem to get myself into wanting to play this more.... I want to like it!! I am constantly being told by a guy at work that this is going to be game of the year.......well, if that's the case, it has to get better?

Just sounds like it's not for you. Not everyone will like every game. If after 3/4 hours you are not enjoying I would move on tbh.

Enjoyed the game. At a stage now where i've maxed all skills/unlocks. Can pretty much take on a stronghold no problem. Combat brand FTW.

Does this game play in a similar way to Infamous: Second Son? From the last couple of pages I read it seems to be open world, map-based missions and side missions. Does fighting actually require timed button combos like the old PS2 LOTR games or is it the same as Infamous - mash X to complete 3-hit combo/repeat?

It fights like the Arkham games - so its all in the timing - very satisfying!

ps3ud0

So there is some skill involved then, that's good. I havent played any of the Batman games as didnt have a console when they were out and I hate 3rd person on the PC. Will give this a try once I've done LOU.

Unlike batman in this you can get overwhelmed very quickly. If you start a fight in a fort you can end up with dozens of orcs and captains having a pop at you.

Combat Brand + Rune that has a % chance to brand those in the immediate area of the one you have branded + 2 combat brands at a time = own personal army in seconds.

I have the game at 100%, just need 3 more Trophy's to have unlocked them all as well :) Really enjoyed this game as it is a nice mix of 2 of my favourite games.

Awesome game, but finding it very hard to kill the Warchiefs... I've been trying to get their body guards before hand, but usually end up swarmed with Uruks and getting killed. I've only been able to kill 2 Warchiefs so far, but unfortunately as I'm getting killed so often I'm losing interest.

Any tips on these please? Ta :)

Find out their weaknesses first. If you are still having trouble do some other missions until you unlock a few more abilities.
