Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for afternoon tea in the Knightsbridge area? I'm spending a weekend there near christmas and looking to treat someone (plus I've not done it before).

Don't really want to spend more than £50 per person. I've been looking through the afternoontea website and there's a ridiculous number of places.

I'd like somewhere that isn't quite The Ritz (it's fully booked anyway), and maybe quite cosy / classic feeling.

I've been looking at Harrods (Laduree) and The Berkeley and the Jumeirah Carlton Tower.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ah yeah, the Mandarin Oriental was another that caught my eye, tied with Harrods at the moment. Berkeley I'm not so sure on with it's fashion theme.

My wife took the kids to Harrods for afternoon tea recently and rated it. She thought it was exceptional value but I would judge for yourself!

Think I will go with Harrods, like you say, can have a wander around with all the Christmas decorations. Can't see anywhere online about booking, I assume you can? Will call tomorrow.

Hi.

I stayed at the Mandarin Hotel last week for 3 days, not a cheap place at all. £570 per night. Anyway the food served at the Mandarin resturant was amazing, not the cheapest but extremely good quality. Not sure about afternoon tea as I didnt try that, but the Mandarin in general was very good.

Jesus! Do you get an escort each night or something?

McDonalds do a fine Earl Grey apparently. You'd be quite the David Niven were you to buy one for your prospective spouse. What what what ! ;)

Just lol !

i'm sure this is a line stolen from an ancient episode of 8 out of 10 cats shown on dave recently.... something about holding your bint's hair back while she's being sick outside yates'.... :p

Correct. However, a good line is a good line so therefore, promulgating it for the benefit of others is no bad thing. ;)

i'm just wondering.... have you ever said this word out loud in everyday conversation? i had to go look it up. :p

I'm sure you have words in your vocabulary that are alien to me. Wasn't it the great contemporary philosopher, Alanis Morissette, that said, we live we learn ? ;)

So your post was of no use to the op and was just an excuse to tell us all you've stayed in a posh hotel? ;)
