Seems to be the only thing on my Christmas list really, bar maybe a helmet cam and/or a dash cam.

Anyway; just wondering if any of you guys have an electric shaver & if so what you'd recommend. Not looking at too expensive but all recommendations will be looked at. I've never used one before, always used a trimmed then razor (or just razor) always with foam. I have sensitive skin so if possible to bare that in mind please do, although I always put cream/moisturiser on afterwards anyway (**** loads at the moment as I've had really bad dry skin and itching problems for nearly a year now).

Please fully star out all swearing in future. Thank you.

Cheers chaps

P.s. Any doctors on here want to recommend me something to try regarding my skin, I've done all sorts so far and bugger all has worked to date! Haha

I don't use them generally but I find the rotary ones seem to be the kindest on the skin.

I've got some of the popular stubble trimmers barba, istubble and some philips I forget the model of but usually use some shaving gel (Gillette Fusion ProGlide Cooling) and a Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 for every day shaving.

EDIT: I know it seems a bit counter productive but I've found I tend to get dry and sometimes itchy skin unless I use an alcohol based aftershave - if it gets really dry subsequently I've found dove men+care hydrate+ moisturiser fairly effective.

Just stay away from Babliss at all costs. Their products are cheap, plastic crap and always break at some point.

I hear companies like Braun and Phillips are good.

Sorry I can't offer more help than that, I just don't want anyone to waste money on Babliss. Also, the charge in them dies after like 3 months as well. My old one could barely hold enough charge after 8 hours charging, just to get rid of stubble.

My i-stubble went fairly blunt (not in a way that pulls at the hair though) pretty quickly (hence why I then got the remington barba) but that is actually useful as I can use it for less aggressive trimming up if I'm going for the stubble look, had it years with no battery issues. They did make some changes just after I got mine though that seemed to get a lost of negative comments.

Had this a couple of years now and it's done me well, 1st electric shaver I used that also didn't pull if hair started getting long which was nice. I'd imagine there's a successor to it by now but no idea what that'd be!

Cheers guys, I'll try AlecR's solution first; seems cheap & reliable if he's still here and breathing :p

The dry skin & itching isn't shaving related, just after a shave my neck in particular gets really tight but after moisturising is fine immediately after.

I'm tempted to continue with blades but would like to try an electric shaver just to see how I get on - but don't want it to be something like £50+ to be just chucked in the cupboard.. Bit of a ball ache really! - just like (as mentioned above) my Babyliss... Bloody useless thing!! XD couldn't help but laugh when I read that haha, my charge lasts no more than 1.5 minutes no matter how long I charge for - and can't be used while charging either lmao!

By the sounds of it it'll continue with the trim/shave combo so uhhh any trimmer recommendations? XD (I lost the charger to my Remington one :( was really good to me as well!)

Got a Phillips rotary type, takes about 45 seconds daily. If its getting low on charge its less effective but I only need to charge it every 2-3 weeks if that. Change the blade every 12-18 months, they can be expensive mind, but less than a years supply of razors.

Much kinder on my face than a wet shave with a 3/4 blade razor and far less hassle.

Any Panasonic 4 blade shaver will trounce the Phillips and Braun. I have used all three and am speaking from (personal) experience. The decent Panasonics come with a 10,000 to 13000 motor.

I paid a lot of money yesterday for a full wet shave with hot towels massage oils and after balm. It was no way as close a shave as my mach3 at 5.30 in the morning.

Snake oil?
