No deliveries from Waitrose any more!

Whilst it would be somewhat frightening to see that in your bananas this is just one of these things that happen, a bit of a non story. You trade and ship from exotic locations you get exotic species stowing away. Yes there should be a bit more care and attention, but the cases are so few and far between that this isn't really a big deal is it?

**** that!

If I found that I'll be like...

**STUPID GIF HAS SWEARY IN IT**

Let's just say the house would not be standing after I left it.

Has it been positively identified as a Phoneutria? I'm not saying it isn't one, I can't tell for sure from the picture, but a lot of Ctenid spiders look very similar and most are pretty harmless.

Waitrose is crap anyway. Lidl > *

I actually tend to agree with some stuff.

I won't touch the fruit and veg in Waitrose but lidl is fantastically good quality for that sort of stuff. Basically anything like cured meats and wine are also very good in Lidl.

Years and years ago when I was a young student working in Tesco's we used to get spiders in the banana boxes quite a lot, I always thought it was hilarious because a lot of the people in the warehouse were scared of them. Used to just stamp them out with a boot and sweep them in the bin.

One serious aspect of this story that bothers me is that if this can happen and may indeed be happening more regularly, how dumb is it of our health service to not stock any anti venom and let their current batch expire!

A bite to a child could leave it with no chance whatsoever.

I read about this somewhere else and what peaked my interest is that the article said they'd dispatched "A Waitrose pest expert"

It made me wonder if they have a crack team on standby for such incidents:eek::D

Well one things for sure it's the last time that spider family will be going on a 'package' holiday! :D... I'll get my coat:o:p

A friend of mine worked at Watrose during his time at college. He has confirmed to me that every Waitrose store has a room in the back which contains 6 ex SEALS who will invariably be smoking and drinking poor quality whisky whilst waiting for their next "Pest Control" mission.

He used to hate going to see them because they keep the flamethrowers and explosive munitions in the same room and, despite the obvious risks, they're constantly smoking. One of his mates in HR let slip that they all refused to sign the health and safety guidance sheets so they could effectively do what they wanted.

Retail.
