yeah I'd say that if he'd groped her that would be a lot worse... though he is slapping her with a sexual organ the act isn't inherently sexual and is clearly more like taking a picture of your bare arse next to a drunk person or teabagging them... it's just going a bit too far doing something taboo. Instead of doing something 'original' like drawing on her face with a marker pen and stacking some beer cans on her... as has probably happened to drunk people at thousands of university house parties he's gone and **** slapped her and filmed it.

does deserve punishment but rather unlikely that he's going to offend again after this - future career now not an option... should have got community service not 9 months in jail - some muggers serve less time than that

I'd feel it would warrant a lessor sentence had they been groped in the street.

An apple pie bed is a prank. Clingfilm over the toilet is a prank. Slapping a sleeping woman round the face with your penis is indecent assault.

And 'banter' in the 'lad' context is just a poor excuse for acting like a ****.

this is the same as happy slapping where they beat people up and film it. they are basically making evidence for the case against them.

This is ridiculous, the fool deserves to regret it.

We've all done stupid, risky and hilarious things after more than a few drinks tho.. And I highly doubt it was something done with real malice.

yup... one houseparty we threw attracted a few gatecrashers... one guy got a bit too inebriated and was half passed out in the garden - no one seemed to know who he was, clearly just a random who'd crashed and helped himself to the drinks... so one guy unzipped and urinated on him... which then prompted a few others to do the same. He was left on the grass and he'd gone by the morning....

God knows what the charges would have been had he been a she and a camera phone was present.

Destroying his life over a stupid prank is too much, hefty fine paid to the victim and a sincerely apology would have been enough.
