Hi guys!

I'm looking into buying a gaming PC from here, I have around a £1,500 budget and need to have a decent monitor squeezed in there as well.

I don't mind what case it is or what it looks like, just want a decent build for gaming.

The only stuff I would prefer is 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a decent cooling system for overclocking.

I really wanna squeeze the most out of my budget, doesn't matter If it goes a bit over budget. I would also like to have a talk to you guys about monitors, which one's are better etc. As I am looking into having 2 monitors later on when I get a bigger desk.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it a lot. Any questions just let me know.

I look forward to reading your replies!

Thanks

Hello & Welcome to the Forum

What do you use your PC for? The reason I ask is 16GB RAM isn't really required, you'd be better with 8GB - difference when gaming is pretty much nothing.

Oh ok, my cousin just bought a new gaming PC and he has 16GB of RAM as advised from another site. Obviously I choose your advise hence I posted here and not there. So you are saying I should go with 8GB now and just upgrade when needed?

Thanks for your reply

Welcome :)
Do you need an operating system? Keyboard and mouse or just monitor?

I have a Keyboard and mouse. Also how much is the OS gonna bump up the price? I have heard you can get windows 8 for around £20 off some sites. Don't know how true that is.

Thanks for your reply

Similar to stulid's tbh, his is probably the better choice, only real difference is this has a 512GB SSD and these cables for bling, and this has a 1440p monitor as a pose to his 144Hz monitor

I don't know whether to go for a 1440p monitor or a widescreen.

What are your thoughts?

Gaming = 144Hz refresh for the smoother update.

I have 1440P here and that same AOC here (next to each other) I use the AOC exclusively for gaming as its just nicer.

I've overclocked my 1440P ASUS panel and find it so much smoother at 80/85hz and the higher refresh rate like the 144hz may not make a difference to everyone :)

Ive tried the same and its not close.

Have you used a 144Hz screen?

Yes and it honestly made no difference to me going back to 60hz.

Then you cant enjoy gaming too much?

I run extended desktop and even just moving the mouse across from the ASUS to the AOC the difference in smoothness is visible.

How do you know??

I enjoy gaming a lot as it happens and I've put a lot of time into BF3/4, Borderlands 2, Batman and various other games and get on when I can. It's also proven that 120/144hz doesn't make a difference to everyone!!!
