R9 290X Owners Thread

Tempted to pick up the Tri-X 290X that's on offer at the moment.

Kind of a stupid question, but i'm running a i7 920 and 18GB ram. Would there be a bottleneck anywhere?

No bottleneck at all and that is a great choice. The Tri-X is amongst the most popular 290X card out there.

Might he not experience the same problem I do with blue screens?
I have an i7 920 and his MoBo would be similar no?

Well after looking back, i think it only affected Crossfire. Does your mobo have that NF200 chip? I remember you mentioning it before. Did you ever give me a DXDIAG text file? If not please do and i will see if we can get it sorted for you.

If it's mainly for gaming I would get the 290 over the 290x. You will not notice the difference unless you benchmark and will save yourself £40.... :)

aaaah, I did not,
I'm not sure about the chips.
I did the fix with copying the file re installing drivers etc and it calmed down from a couple times a day to now and then.
I get a lot of 'driver not responding' errors
I can send you that file tonight, i'll pastedump or something.

It'll be for gaming, photo and video editing. Might go for the 290 and get myself a new mouse too :o

I would tbh. I have a Tri-X 290 and a reference 290x and apart from the 290x sounding like a jet fighter plane on take off I cannot tell them apart when gaming.

Hey,
I read on another forum that the MoBo doesn't use that chip, But I'd have to check myself to be sure.
