No, the sound quality from the D1 will be better than from the motherboard.

The real question should be, is the headset up to letting you hear the difference?

no that video is very subjective (the main guy's opinions are based on the fact he works for mayflower and that's his product he's selling that is better than all soundcards ever...... )

Soundcards have features that are better for gaming than many DAC's too but it depends on the game and how it's made.
