Nexus 9

It may be software fixable, but it's still beyond frustrating that in 2014, Google would allow its flagship tablet to launch with serious lag issues. Do they want to grow the Android tablet space or not? Because it's Apple they're competing with, and Apple would never let this happen. It's not 2008 any more - tablets aren't a first-generation device with expected teething problems. This bread and butter user experience stuff really needs to just work.

Apple release garbage at times, they have had quite a few recent software launch issues. Software updates that break basic phone functionality, The Fappening etc.

All the reviews I have read are based on 2 month old software they all include this as a disclaimer. The release version of Lollipop should be much better.

I am a huge android fanboy; but at this price, the Ipad Air 2 is the only option. It is better all round and only £70 more for double the capacity.

The reviews of the N9 stink (they even mention the update not doing anything) and the Denver cpu cores look to be the problem. It may also explains why the K1 chromebooks got spanked for being stuttery.

Denver cores are extremely fast thou, in single threaded workload its faster then the A8X, the A8X wins out in the end since its 3 cores vs 2 cores. I think instead its issues with drivers, if you remember back to the Tegra 3 HTC One X it had real issues with software to get the device as smooth as the S4 version, 6 months in and it was finally fixed and wasn't so bad.

There was a post somewhere on the specifics but it related to Denver being an in order chip rather than executing things out of order which is less efficient but potentially faster.

Or it could be that there are only 2 CPU cores.

Either way, Face palm nvidia. The shield tablet runs on a15 and is a beast

Face palm nvidia.

Yep, I read before that it only performs well when apps are stored in its comparatively large cache. Otherwise it has worse performance than an 805/801.

Read a few more reviews and I'm very disappointed, as should Google also be.

This was supposed to the king of Android tablets, sitting high and proud. A product that would tempt and entice potential tablet buyers. Extremely powerful with a good premium feel, something to match that increased price tag compared to the previous line of Nexus devices.

Instead I see a mediocre product at best. At worst: cheap feeling back, light bleed, battery inconsistencies and performance issues. :(

Ars Technica aren't too impressed mentioning questionable build quality and odd bits of lag. How such issues can exist on a 'flagship' tablet I can't understand. It's bad enough that Google and HTC agreed on such a poor amount of storage already. Most people will simply go for iPads now so gg Google - your flagship tablet has done very little for Android and left the whole market to iOS even moreso than it already was.

I wonder how long until the high street stores get them in and we can have a feel before buying.

I can handle the software issues, they can be fixed, but I don't want it feeling flimsy in hand and the comments about the plastic back are disappointing.

My 32GB white has been dispatched from the Play Store and is being delivered by Parcelforce. The tracking says it's a 24 hour service and was picked up from a North London depot at around 7:30pm.

Mine has just arrived YAY, sure i can sneak a quick 10 mins play while at work.....
