NVIDIA’s Tom Peterson explains 4K resolution and how GeForce GTX is the best choice to power 4K gami

But I be missing 120hz, it will be a bad dream. A nightmare :(

Use DSR thats what im going to do. I have a new 240hz Eizo FG2421, Brand new ROG Gladius at 2000hz polling rate and ill run older titles like Draenor with DSR 4K 240hz with my mouse purring at 2000hz.

:D

:D

240hz that native or interpolation? Yeah DSR is something I would really like to see on AMD it's probably the only feature am little jealous over.

Native it is your 120frames + 120 black frames so it is ULMB for AMD users too. They just need an offical downsample tool in the drivers but they missed the christmas window because i really wanted Mantle too grr.

There aint no other way to get Mantle with 4K/120hz they need to move thier butts. This is the future though for sure 4K/120 with either brute force mouse polling or some kind of all in one sync tool for refresh rates and inputs.

4k is still a long way off for me, monitors need to be 120hz. I'm deffo not buying into early tech just for the sake of it, 1080p does me well.

I would love another 4K screen and do miss the Samsung U28D590 I had but Philips are bringing out a 40" 4K panel and that could sway me back. I would keep the Swift for fps games but I am more of a Tomb Raider type of gamer and those kind of games really do make 4K worthwhile.

LOL dont tell me that you have not seen this posted here before greg, i thought it was a new vid, but nope i had seen it before.

40" for a monitor? Really...how far away from the screen must you game :o

(or is this an old age thing? :D)

Big pixels meaning reduced 4K wow effect. But he might want it as a film setup or for sofa style games. It could make an all in one screen for the right person. I wouldnt go over 27" or 34" if Ultrawide for a 4K monitor personally though. Getting that PPI up is the whole point of 4K and getting rid of tools we have had to put up with since what feels like legacy 1999. Yup Antialising and Vertical Sync have to go.

The sooner the better, They will be gone by the time 8K arrives and i only forsee a future for Gsync and Anisotropic 16X. The rest will be gone drivers might even exist as an app on the card themselves with no real options either. Who knows how streamlined it will become. Steam big picture mode is probably a good indication though.

It is the latter. My eyes are struggling as I get older :D

Are you working for Nvidia now Greg?

Nope, I have been scouring my known haunts for news and only news I found was nVidia. AMD have been very quiet lately and nothing worth posting in truth.

And how again is Nvidia better at 4k? From what ive seen the 980s choke at 4k and wont even scale past 2 cards so what am i missing? Not to mention the stutters. I can understand Titan Blacks being good, raw horsepower they're about the same as 290xs (other than bus width).

Enlighten me Gregster or almighty15!

Edit: Not to mention the ridiculous quote.

If you value your 'enthusiast gamer' badge and like to think of yourself as having the best of the best in PC gear, then you need a 4K system.

So to be an "Enthusiast" gamer im gonna have to get a 4k screen, which lets face it: Almost exclusively middleaged men buy to play batman, spiderman or mass effect on. Where has the 120-240hz screens went? Where's the talk about games requiring skill and practice, competitive play... After 1100+ Hours in CSGO i guess i am not an Enthusiast Gamer because i wont give in to a sharp looking slideshow.

Probably written by some middle-aged man who only plays a few games every once in a while and has the nerve to call himself a gamer, because as you all know: people who put their time and effort into games that rewards you for using high frequency refresh rates to get good at them and play competitively arent gamers, The old men who play single player campaign games on 4k screens are :p.

4 up @4K.

Titans are the best for 4K by a reasonable margin (very smooth).

290Xs are ok but can stutter a bit even when not running out of VRAM.

980s are slightly worse (early testing) than the 290Xs with more stutter (could have something to do with the memory compression).

The above is based on visual experience not fps.

Or that 256bit bus, time will tell. We will see if they can fix it with new drivers.

I don't understand it, that Roy guy from AMD said they were the best, now this Nvidia guy says their the best

It's almost like they are just claiming their own products are best O.o

I've got a volkswagon caddy. If you all consider yourself white van enthusiasts, you should all go out and buy a volkswagon caddy as it's the best compact van out there. Now go on, don't use your own brain, just trust in what I say.

Look at this review of GTX 980s in SLI: http://hardocp.com/article/2014/10/27/nvidia_geforce_gtx_980_sli_4k_video_card_review/#.VFswdfnF8ml

Being matched and outclassed in some cases by 290x in CF, which tbh surprised me.

@Gregster, IMO 4K is obsolete until we have single GPUs that can run games at a smooth minimum of 40-50 FPS. We are just now getting to that point with 2560x1440. In 2 to 3 years this may change, but I think when Occulus is released to the general public, interest in 4K may diminish somewhat.
