'Bottlekneck' on 2x r9 290 and 8320??

IMO now is not a good time to jump on the 4K wagon.

Firstly the cost on graphic cards require to game on 4K comfortably simply cost too much...ideally you'd want 3 high-end card at least instead of 2, and at which point when there's enough GPU grunt, the 4GB vram might become not enough.

Also considering from the pricing for 4K monitor...like the 4K TV, the price was quite high at the beginning, but they quickly fallen due to not enough people buying, and too many manufacturers launching too many 4K products. If you wait till same time next year, most likely not only you would be able to get two cards at the same price that would have more vram that can deliver the same performance if 3 high-end cards right now...not only that, the chances are with more 4K monitors on the market, the average pricing of the would probably fall even lower- they are may be £450-£550 on average right now, but next year they may probably be in £300-£350 range.

I disagree.

The waiting game is always pointless.
Because next year there might be 5K monitors or 8K monitors and more cards on the pipelines to handle them for 2016-17.
While buying 4K then going to be always leave the bad taste "maybe buy something better later on?"

And by the time the prices drop, new items on the pipeline waiting for their price to drop....

When someone wants something should buy it the moment they want to buy it. Waiting for a year is total waste of time.

Sure, if you lower details. You're not maxing stuff at 4K with just two 290X's or 980's.
Hell, you can't max everything comfortably with a single 290X at 1080p!

Cough*crysis 3 he's talking to you*cough hahaha but you can turn down AA as you don't need on 16x it which is a positive

That's a nice price for a 4K monitor, but the cost of graphic cards need to drive simply puts me off.

I'm seriously considering a new monitor, but I'm leaning far more toward the 21:9 monitor...though they are quite expensive, and no support sync is really working against me buying a new monitor right now.

I was going to get a 21:9 29 inch lg monitor but then 4k got my attention and yeah... It looks beautiful on a 60 inch tv, I can only imagine all those pixels on a 28 inch.... The picture quality alone will make it worth it

Well with 2x290 cards, a 4K monitor and that 1000W SuperFlower PSU I'd say you're all set for a nice gaming experience. :)

Think I'm going to take your advice and settle settings down by lowering AA which I've read isn't needed as after 2x you can't see anything different... Do you have any recommendations for my 2nd card? I've got a reference 290 already, so do I get an aftermarket card or do I get another reference and what order do I put them? I'm imagining get a tri x or the powercolor PCS+ and put the reference on the bottom so it can breathe... But that is just a thought I don't really know about..

Regarding TV, I actually think the OLED is more attractive than the 4K ones, as it can make even FullHD sources looks drop-dead gorgeous. Shame about the issues such as burn-in surrounding the OLED tech. I watch lots of anime (don't judge :D), and I simply don't see them moving onto 4K anytime soon :p

Do you like matching cards? Personally i do so could not have different ones. If you don't care about that then put in whichever card you like. If you do go with an AIB cooled card I'd recommend putting that in slot 1 and leaving the reference card in slot 2. :)

That is gorgeous, but why pay £100 more over the lg?

I bought that before LG's push within OCUK.
It's also before the 4K monitors were launching.

So I went for it because of aesthetic etc, it should be £300.00 to be honest, but oh well, I'm happy with it.

Now I want a 34" 3440x1440.

I think so does everyone else but at £1000 its a mono hahaha and I think it would hurt me having 2 different cards as I have slight ocd with just stupid things and my PC is one... But the wires are a mess but colours and stuff irritate me, weird I know but oh well and that 8350+980 test looks interesting and supports my decisions with everything... Because I most definetly am not paying £200 extra for the i7 for 2-5fps.... That'd just silly IMO

And cheap winter heating to boot! (sorry, had too).

No it wouldn't... Max your looking at is 2 980s for more than 60fps or 2x 290x 8gb...

That wouldn't give playable FPS in some of today's games, never-mind tomorrows. Like Kaap said 3x GPU's is the requirement for 4K (unless you specifically only want to play some of the less demanding games)

Wow, I'm amazed.

I think I can deal with 2 different cards if it would make a difference in temps... I'm getting an nzxt 630 silent case (the sexy sleek black one for £98 on ocuk) and that will blow air straight into the cards with the fan infront of them :) and I'll buy some more fans to go in as well because I want nice cooling on my £500 worth of babies haha
