PC Help - Adverts!!

Can you expand a bit? Where are the adverts?

If they're just general adverts, then get something like adblock for whichever browser you use.

If its pop ups and other things then run a scan with malwarebytes, should get rid.

Do a scan as UnworthyBean mentions and also check add / removes programs in control panel for any unusual programs and uninstall.

install adblock plus in firefox, it makes such a difference that when i use a browser that doesnt have it installed im shocked by the adverts in youtube :p

Even without any adblock software, you shouldn't be seeing those adverts on OcUK's forums - the only ads is the small, tasteful one in the top right of each page. I think (as others have said) you have some unwanted visitors on your PC. Malwarebytes should get rid of them, and I'd have a check in your add-ons/extensions in your browser too for anything you don't recognise that might be adding the adverts on.

My nephew's PC had those kind of adverts on each website recently - turned out his "Chrome" browser wasn't Chrome at all but an add-filled browser that claimed to be Chrome until you looked closely at the desktop link's target! He'd accidentally downloaded it while trying to find a mod for Minecraft!

I'd suggest you go through your installed plugins to see if any have been updated recently as some have been adding advertising elements which work somewhat like that.

Also you should be careful about how you name a file as one of the blocklists in adblockplus decided to think that it was an advert and blocked it.

I have installed the adblock software, and the adverts are still coming up. Is there anything I have to click in the adblock software?
Looks like you've got a bit of malware which adblock won't help with.

- Check your extensions in firefox
- Run a malware scan (Either malwarebytes or adwcleaner should do)

I wouldn't say the second two look ok, get rid.

A threat scan will do, but if you've got the time then just run a custom scan and pick all the drives, should take around an hour or so.

Yeah that ain't good. Do you have any antivirus software running other that Malwarebytes? Your machine has definately picked up something :(

btw get down the gym and sort out those legs, your mrs' legs are bigger than yours!!

How do I do that??

Back up all your personal files, probably to an external hard drive or USB drives if you don't need that much space. Then insert the Windows install disk, boot into that and follow the install instructions. It will wipe the drive and install a fresh copy of Windows.

Have you tried removing the last two add-ons on Firefox? They look fishy...
