Just gotta hope this expansion actually resolves things and adds elements to give it some genuine (as opposed to the current, artificially forced) longevity. If it doesn't i've got a feeling the only people who will be left are the ones who've already pre-ordered the expansions and feel obligated to play them.
I was saying to martin last night, my biggest gripe is the materials farming at the minute. My game screen shows around 300 hours played, but i'd be inclined to say only half of that is from actually playing levels and doing missions. I've spent countless hours looking in holes for materials when i'd rather be playing the game. I find it baffling that bungie said they didn't want people sitting there shooting into a cave for loot, but they have no problem making them run on a wild goose chase to multiple caves looking for loot lame materials.
I'd like to try for the flawless raider achievement, but i don't have enough faith in the games ability to not glitch out or mess up at some point in order for me to even BEGIN trying to get that. That needs fixing ASAP.
The vault isn't big enough and that's becoming more and more obvious. I've spent a lot of time upgrading weapons and most are suited to very different situations. Now nobody in their right mind would make multiple weapons for each character so the most sensible idea is to stick them in the vault and use them when needed. Only, the vault isn't big enough and they're about to add more weapons to the game. So now i have to store some weapons on a character and some in the vault. Next time i load up the game.... which character has the weapons? No idea... sign in, go to tower, not there, sign out. Next character, not on that one either. Thats a long winded and poorly thought out design. The characters teleport from the ships to the planets, why not have the vault linked to the ship so you can access it from orbit. Or even better, why not have the vault on the damn ship? Then when you're in the tower you can access the vault machine which is linked to your ships inventory so you can add new weapons you bought in the tower to your ship really easy. Pick your loadout while flying to a planet and you're all set.
So many features on this game are counter intuitive and long winded. I want to run round, shoot things and save the day while chatting to my mates and meeting new friends to have a laugh with along the way. Instead it's all so segregated and clunky it makes it hard to do that.
The one thing that would utterly make this game for me would be a horde mode where you and up to 5 friends stand your ground against an onslaught of increasingly difficult enemies. Each wave gets harder or adds more enemies, starting with dregs and goblins, adding in a few captains, then wizards, then ultra knights, ogres, strike bosses. Add RNG burn choices to different waves to keep mixing it up. Every 5 waves increases your loot worth upon dying and the rounds keep going until everyone wipes, so clear 5 waves and everyone gets a blue engram, clear 30 everyone gets an exotic engram. Defend the warsat does this to an extent, but it's nowhere near long enough and having a dedicated mode for it would be awesome.
I really hope they add a harder strike playlist to the DLC as well. I mean, does anybody at level 28+ play the level 12 strike playlist? So when the level cap is raised to 32 the current tiger set is going to be too low.
