Listening to it on Amazon at the moment. Will play it on the hifi this evening.

The high quality mixes on the blu-ray disc are worth the price alone.

Sounds absolutely amazing through a good sound setup.

I have had it on constant loop for the last 3 hours.

Brought tears to my eyes the first time I played it, never thought I would hear anything new from Pink Floyd.

I don't like the album, big fan of the previous but Endless River just got me a bit bored, there just wasn't that "pop" that the last ones had (and still have) for me.

Snip

Looks like a very nice package  ... I have mine (same package) coming via Amazon 'slow' (free) delivery, but have the MP3's to listen too in the mean time. I would like some more 'songs' but its still a great LP for the most part... I'm not a hardcore PF fan, but they have alway been there, since I was young, so this being the end, it has to be done... I find the album, and all that goes with it, very moving.

My fears exactly and I have not listened to it yet...I love Floyd but I know what this is going to be...some acoustic noodling with drums etc....

If I were to listen to it blind without knowing it was Pink Floyd I'd never make the connection and think it was someone new. Of course diehards will disagree but that's difference in opinion for you :p

I guess for the foreseeable future I'll continue to listen to the better old ones in glorious 24/96 when in the mood

Its not by any means the best thing they've ever done but that's not really the point and comparing it with the best is doing it a bit of a disservice imho. Its an emptying of the cupboard and closure of arguably one of the most important and influential musical artists of our time.

The arrangement is still very much top draw but they are cast offs, things that didn't make it to album but its also an ode to Wrighty which brings with it an underlying thread of regret, sorrow (that its over / that they lost their friend) and loneliness that runs through it to such an extent that its (for me) rather emotional listening to it.

Yes much of it is reminiscent of previous stuff but that to me just reinforces the fact that they have remained connected to their original objectives as a band, even without RW.

Agreed.

Gilmour and Mason have been very open from the start about what this is, it's more of a "footnote" to the band's career and a tribute to Wright rather than just another album as such.

Hah, you can tell everything by Gilmore's guitar tone, mrk.

I'm enjoying the album, and I'm just onto my second listen. It's pretty chilled out, lovely ambient music :) but, I can understand why some people might not enjoy it. The lack of vocals is a big shame. I love Gilmore's voice.

Only had a chance to listen to the first few tracks. Liking it so far - definite shades of Shine On....looking forward to checking out the surround mix.

Definitely worth checking that out :)

Have to say that this will probably end up my most listened too Pink Floyd album, loving it.

shades of Shine on...

That gets me interested. Haven't got around to ordering the album yet but the full version of Shine on is probably my favourite song of all time.

I'm by no means the biggest Floyd fan - but I like most of their stuff from '73 onwards...but that song...I'd use it as an example to define what music is.

I mentioned in post 28 about noodling without even looking at the track listing or knowing anything about the album there is a track called noodle street... :(

How this album is a disappointment...it's got bits of us and them and run like hell but it's sounds just like a jam session... It's boring and all the tracks sound to "samey"

It's a shame really as the album sounds like bits of something else with no real direction... Its a polished tarted up jam imo which is a real shame... But like anything in life things have a lifetime and Floyd have run their course...
