*** The Official OcUK Weight Loss Thread ***

Ill join in:

Age: 30
Height: 5'7"
Weight: ~63.5KG

I don't actually want to lose any weight as my BMI is perfect, I just want to distribute it away from my gut lmao. I bought a bike but then the sun went away :(

I'm never sure whether to be worried or not when people who are taller than me and weigh 30kg less than me think they need to lose weight!

Weight is a bit of an off figure though, as it completely depends on muscle. One person could be 2st heavier than a person of the same height but just have way more muscle mass, but the lighter person could still be "fat" or carried excess weight in fat.

Indeed just general "weight" is a mostly useless figure, going by the mirror and a tape measure is a much better way to gauge progress.

I'm 35, up until September I was 114kg (18stone) at 6ft 1", When the Doc told me how much I weighed I was shocked, I thought I was closer to 16stone.

So that triggered my rapid lifestyle change, I dropped all bad foods, got the android app, myfitnesspal and started calorie counting.

My job is very active already which has me walking ~3 miles a day and carrying upwards of 20kg up stairs. So this allowed me some bonus calories. I initially had a calorie deficit of 1000, which over the course of a month helped me drop 7kg (way too fast I know) but most of that was water weight.

About a month ago I started strength training by doing the 5x5 stronglifts routine, this has allowed me to increase my food intake (still a 500 calorie deficit to drop the fat) but also enough nutrients to maintain muscle and build more.

I am currently 103kg with 19% bodyfat, which gives me a lean mass of 83kg so pretty damn good so far.

I will continue to do the weights and eat like I am as that seems to be working very well, when my bodyfat has dropped to a level I feel is good (13-15%) I will look at bumping my intake back up to full so I can bulk for a few months before doing a cut in time for summer 2015.

To control the hunger make sure your getting plenty of protein in your diet, at least 1g per lb of lean body weight. I have ~183g protein a day and never feel hungry.

I plan to pick up one of those wifi scales too, Amazon Black Friday week usually have them at like half price, I'll be looking out for one.

wifi scales lol whatever next, Raymond your such a hipster, next you will be plugging a usb into your belly to suck the fat out.

I thought the same when I read wifi scales, I was amazed such a thing even exists, then I saw the price of them.....LOL!

If you're referring to ubersonic, then if you're less than 5" 7 and 96kg and not swole, you're obese.

If it provides motivation I'm in.

Age : 36
Weight : 14st
Height: 5'10
Target: 12st

My current job sometimes involves lifting heavy stuff and about 4000 steps a day so not worried about BMI as it's a good work out but I start my mostly desk bound role next week.
Most dinners are home cooked so no bung it in the oven pre-cooked stuff.
