**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

The case I ordered...fits very well and provides that much needed all round protection.

Spigen Galaxy Note 4 Case Capsule Series £10

What is the consensus on the use of a screen protector on this.

Yay or nay? Anyone going without able to comment on the screen and scratches?

Last night I applied a new tempered glass protector, seems a little better than the last, better coverage of the buttons at least.

Only £3.89 too. (Link in video description)

I've got some screen protectors arriving soon - they're pretty much a requirement for me - no matter what type of glass the screen might have on it, dropping keys, dropping phone, coins in the pocket, etc... too much risk for me.

I'm reluctant to get a case though. I bought one for the Note 3 and removed it after a little while and it's been naked ever since. The Note 4 looks and feels even nicer in the hand, so I'll probably keep it like it is... and drop it on its corner like I did my Nokia N900 all those years ago :D

Not a fan of screen protectors at all - why dull the touch experience?

Flip covers are where it's at! Replaces battery cover so non-intrusive, keeping it slim and slender with the flip cover there to protect the screen when in your pocket etc.

No drop protection but I much prefer having an aesthetically pleasing phone without compromise as opposed to huge bulky bumper cases and annoying rubbery screen protectors.

While some people just won't use them as they don't see the need, it should be noted that good glass screen protectors feel no different, at all, to the actual screen itself.

I'm more worried about scratching the metal frame than the screen on this phone. I've got tons of micro scratches on the chamfered edges on mine, and a couple of nicks too. No Idea how it's happened as I've been babying it ever since I got it. It's not too bad to be fair, you can only notice it when looking really closely.

So after all my moaning it turned up at the 3 store today despite no despatch or updates from them.

Off to the Samsung store for a case after work then a proper play around tomorrow morning.

Probably best not to take it out tonight!

My Spigen Slim Armour case turned up today from Spigen themselves. Will post pics in a bit.

I went for the Slim Armour because I didn't really fancy that metallic band that surrounds the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. This case definitely oozes quality and I can't see any manufacturing issues.

The button area on the inside of case has raised polyurethane buttons inside it in order to make good contact with the Note's buttons. Does it make the Note look bigger? God yes... Ordinarily I am not a fan of cases on my phones (naked ftw) but given how much screen estate this thing has along with that raised camera it just has to be done.

The bubble in the left hand side was still there, that would annoy me no end!

BTW that's not how you apply a tempered glass screen protector. If you just push down near in the middle, in one spot, all the air is removed itself. As you moved your finger around you were actually trapping the air in, hence the bubble that remained.

No not really. I pressed through the middle, then I pushed out the remaining bits of air... all gone. No bubble remained.

Ah ok, well it was definitely still there whilst you recorded the video, I can see it. :)

As I said though, you only need to push down on one spot and then you just wait, the air is slowly removed itself. That was one of the best thing about the tempered glass screen protectors.

Kona, that case doesn't look too bad. How much bulk does it add though? That's the main thing putting me off getting a case.

So I really thought 3 had come good. I was wrong.

Picked the phone up at lunch and took it back to the office. First thing I noticed is the prepaid sim was actually blank with nothing on it.

So I popped back into the store after work and was told there was nothing I could do and would have to sort it on the phone as it was ordered online.

When they took the phone out of the box to have a look they noticed it was very hot and recommended I return it for a replacement immediately. Unfortunately this is also something they refused to do in store.

I have just been on the phone to customer services who have flatly told me they will only do a swap replacement to my billing address. Unfortunately that's a hundred odd miles away and I won't be back for weeks. They will NOT send another to the store for me to replace.

What sort of temps are people actually getting? The phone seems to idle at around 50 and I'm running 3D mark now to see how hot it gets under stress.

Not happy would be an understatement.

3D mark got the temp to 71. Is this too hot?

50 degrees seems too hot for idle. If I leave my s5 prime (same specs as note 4) alone for a while and kill all apps it will idle at around 30 degrees +/- 2 or 3 degrees depending on the ambient temperature. 50 degrees at complete idle after not doing anything for a while would worry me.
