I was having a conversation with a friend who said that he was aiming to save 50% of his monthly net earnings. I probably save around 15-20% on average and I'm 27, although I'm currently reviewing my finances to cut out a lot of the crap that I spend out on. I have no idea what other people save but younger people obviously have more things to save for.

So how much do you save as a percentage of your net monthly income and how old are you?

Saving 30% I'm 33. Though that would change depending on my situation and income, if I was paying proper rent, etc. it would be more like 15%.

I recently went through my finances and made quite a lot of adjustments though and upped my savings from whatever it was before on the balance - i.e. cut my mobile contract down to a fairly basic package as I didn't need what I was paying for and got rid of a few subscriptions I was just paying for out of habit.

25-30% net but I also have a mortgage that I pay 25% into. I'm 31

It used to be be around 35% savings which is about right IMO but living costs have gone up with the new baby and new house.

Define save? I set some cash aside into my isa s each month but I also overpay into my mortgage so I'll be saving in the long term for that :p

I'm 29, about 50-55% + a further 10% towards mortgage overpayments.

Feel like I am one of very few people who buys less shiny things the more my earnings have increased!

62.5%

£1000 every 4 weeks, Im 28.

In reality thats spent paying back past adventures around the world and towards new ones.

I'm 38, married with two kids, nice big mortgage, and manage to save a big fat zero. In theory I could probably save about 10% of my wages, but then I'd have no fun money for toys and gadgets!
